hello just organising a little run around the south peak district area carsington on some very tame lanes will be more of a sight seeing and get to know ur truck run and of course the chance to meet folk for a chin wag

here is the plan (subject to change) for 5 feb 2012

these are easy lanes just allow u to ride ur truck off the normal road and get a feel

start is CARSINGTON WATER VISITORS CENTRE 1000 for a 1030 set off (time for questions and say hello)

lanes in order if map read correct

LONGROSE FARM LANE
BALLIDON QUARRY LANE
MINNINGLOW LANE
ROYSTONE GRANGE
ROCKHURST FARM
CARDLEMERE LANE
GREEN LANE TOWARD PIKEHALL (not on map)

dinner stop at hartington railway part of tissington trail toilets but cafe is unperdictable if open best pack snap and flask
will be good stop as have little one to feed as do possibly others (is a pay and display but as stopping with trucks we got away last time without paying)

HIGHFIELD LANE
REYNARDS LANE
STADEN BARN
GREEN LANE AS ON MAP OFF A515 I THINK
?CLOUGH LANE from darley bridge this will be a maybe on time and how folks feel

if folks feel these are to tame as we go round we can always change to some more interesting lanes no real chance of damage but would need more careful driving and 4wd

the purpose is to introduce new folk not for the older ones to bounce around off road

equipment advised
tow rope/ strap (damar on ebay do good straps at 5-7 ton)
coats
good footwear (concider boots if been wet and think of footwell might need a rubber mat)
food and drink
sunglasses as can sometimes be dazzling stopping u see lane
mobile with numbers for gruop (will send mine closer date)
maps of lower peak district white or dark cant remember which or printed pages from computer

thinks to concider if going regular but not needed on this day
cb radio be safer and easier to communicate
http://www.4x4cb.com/public/menu.cfm these do good packages and indvidual items would recomend springer 5ft arial for off roading takes the knocks off trees
ALL TERRAIN tyres or MUD TERRAIN personnal choice as will lower mpg by 1-2 mpg and if u use alot on tarmac cause more wear and noise

any more info needed feel free to pm me

Many more interest

Is it the sort of route that you can do alone, I could be tempted on this one, but we are tied up most weekends at the moment, sounds like a nice Sunday out.

If you have any maps, I could look at it would be great.
How do find the start of these lanes....:nenau

It is straight forward lanes with a few gates only one lane would be careful with as it can be a little muddy/rutted after some heavy rain if u are quite experienced at lanning u should be ok

Have got a memory maps overlay if any use will drop on thread when back on main computer not iPhone

Sorry to say but terrano will be gone by then ,so please remove my name.Have a good day.jd

Will do a weather check thur into fri and post on here friday if we cancel due to weather don't fancy the minus six gets a little cold on the hands when opening the gates lol

weather for sunday
yes they have said chance of snow and temp is going to be cold not sure if as low as -6
but they have been saying the same all week and at the moment its been lovely sunny midday and not had to de ice the car of thick ice

the plan
at the moment i am going to leave things as planned and see what happens
i would advise those coming to recheck the thread on saturday for any further news
if it has snowed in the morning and folks dont feel up to coming i have left my contact number so pls drop me a text to let us know ur not coming so we are not waiting
i know for definite that me and kamsin will be out if it does snow as long as not 2-3 ft deep and have plan B for some snow fun

dress for cold weather good solid footwear and sun glasses and a hot flask is advised

i am not a mad man that is trying to tempt u out into the great unknown in rediculous weather those that know me will tell u i wont risk my truck its my pride and joy
just dont want to say its off for the moment and on sundays it be a great sunny clear day yes cold when out of truck but warm inside and we all be thinking wish we had still gone

feel free to comment
