As you've probably read I'm doing the Mac challenge and we have to be fairly self sufficent for 50+ hrs with no hotels or campsites organised so its carry what you need and sleep where and when you can, so I've started on a few mods.

First interior lighting, much of the event is down to naviagtion so good lighting for the navigator is essential. On the move Neil (or) will be using a poti, an illuminated map magnifier from the rally world but when stopped from experiance I know a good light is useful so I've fitted a twin 8w tube floursecent up front, plus one in the rear, where we will have some gear stored and one in the boot for when we want to get at stuff there.

As the event is early march theres a good change of rain so I've put some elastic nets up in th eboot area for us to keep our waterproofs

Also whilst I was at it I've added further storage for the navigator who will no doubt have paperwork, maps and time cards to store. I got some of the coach seat back magazine nets from one of my customers. T2 doors aren't ideal for em so I had to mount it at an angle.

As I can't mount one on the drivers side because of the electric window switch I put the other one I had in front of the passenger on the front of the glove box.

Got boot storage to sort, radio equipment, roof rack and exterior lights - but its coming along.

Where,s child seat,Looks functional, did you get round to fitting second battery or are you using h/d leisure.:thumbs

Second battery not gone in yet but it is going to happen - probably this week all being well. I'm using dual Numax-CXV31MF 700CCA and 113Ahr, almost as mouch wack as an optima but over twice the capacity and half the price (i paid £70 for the one I have on at the moment).

Heavy duty split charge, 200amp, going on along with 150amp alternator, but later will be changing to trialling a new digital split charge battery monitor set up (as soon as Dave Clark and Chris Ford have finished designing it, Dinky).

Nice one Simon :thumb2

Half the fun of any big trip is the vehicle prep.

Some good useful additions mate. Keep up the good work, and keep us informed.

Lee. :thumbs

If you look at the photos you can see the old laptop thats running it in the net on the glove box - once I'm happy with it all it is going behind the glove box out of the way.

The blue wire is temporary and will be fed behind te dash, it goes to the back of the stalk to pick up high beam to use to make the spots dip.

Still got standard one - didn't dare fit the other as I'd not have had chance to test it. The bracket is made and the wiring is a straight swap but I need to get a new (longer) drive belt and then test it hard to make sure the bracket stands up to it all.
