2.5"-3" is good enough.

That's good to know.... Makes it even easier...

Actually, not doubting your superior knowledge :bow... well actually, I guess I am a bit :doh, but the reason I was thinking of 4 inch, was using logic, surely the "in" pipe needs to be at least as big as the Inter-cooler connection pipes, which must be about 4 inches or so...

Pah, intercooler pipe is 65mm near enough. The intake at 65mm will also be fine :thumb2

In your case just modify the end of the filter box instead. Then fit a KnN inside and job done

that's very neat mate.
Ive got a lot of work to do on my car this weekend

just had a quick assess of the snorkel fitting???????
for a start. there is no way you can get to the inside of the wing to tighten or even fit the nuts that hole the thing on.
there is also no way that its going to fit the air intake of the air bok as the snorkel fit is triangle.not oval.
and its going to take a lot more fitting and adjusting than I first thought.
I thing the wing will have to be removed to bolt it on and then its going to need some air box mods and some inner wing cutting im thinking.
all these jobs are beond my ability.
so it looks like its a trip up my mates for some help.:doh

And another.

Cheers Gav

Gav, do you have, or please could you take, a picture looking down on the wing from above, so I can see exactly where inside the engine bay it comes through from the snorkel.

Also, from what you saw when you fitted it, would there be any room for moving the location of the through hole, so it was further back along the wing, to come through into the end of the air filter box, rather than in front?

Cheers

I too would like to see some pictures of the inside please gav.
and wots that orange cable going into the top of the snorkel?

Hi mate mine isnt actually plumbed in yet (no time) from looking at it i need to move my washer bottle and cut the inner wing so i can route the flexi pipe into the airbox shouldnt be to hard. I think the 2.7tdi has a diffrent airbox to the 2.7td which will make a diffrence. Also i didnt remove the wing to bolt the snorkel up was a struggle but did it in the end. Once i have pics i will post them up. Red tube running up the snorkel are diff breathers bought of facebook 4x4 for £15 with pipe and connections.

Cheers Gav

Kamsin on here did a write up on the install of a snorkle on a 2.7tdi.

Do you mean this post?

The problem is, he does not have ABS, or at least, the ABS pump etc in that location, as it is on mine, so can afford to come out at the rear of the air box on the firewall side.

In fact looking at those pictures, the snorkel does not even come down as far as the airbox, so would not work on the TDi's on ones with ABS fitted.

brill that thread was all I needed. lincs mav god knows how you got your arm up the wing to bolt the snorkel on. personaly my wing will be coming off.
I will be doing this job next week and post a few pics.

My Terrano has abs and a snorkel
