So flush the coolant system with the heat open on full hot , refill and make sure you bleed it by giving it a good run with the heater still on full before you close the heater down.

Last time i suggested this i got jumped on and criticised as it is apparently old fashioned and unneccesary! So either we are both right or someoone hasnt't stpotted it, or is keeping quiet

But I thnk it is still good practice and for many cars particularly very new ones a very god piece of advice!

My 2001 2.7td heats up very quickly wether im towing my caravan or not and the heater is terrific. My mates diesel maverick is quick as well.my 06 works L---- R---- takes ages to get hot!!

Maybe where old fashion  but anti freeze does not last and breaks down with constant temperature changes etc..

As above. Give your cooling system and overhaul and replace the 'stat.

My diesel Maverick is slow to warm up, and never gets more than a third of the way up the gauge.I have checked the thermostat and that was ok, so I covered the radiator.A Nissan mechanic ,I spoke to, said the cooling system was designed to cope with towing 3 tons in high temperatures, and pottering around empty hardly disturbed the coolant.
