Yes good point, but if possible I would like to beef up the air intake :thumb2

That's why I went for 3" tubing from snorkel to air box.
Air box modding will be needed if going that route.

Actually, ive always had a bit of a soft spot for drainpipe snork stylie.

So I think im gonna give that a go.

Only concern is, it may be a bit brittle when the weather turns to sub zero... what about a cast iron stove pipe??:lol

Why not do it in shiny Aluminium tube, a bit like mine, but you could go for the angles in ally as well... not sure how expensive that would make it though. When I priced mine up, all in, including the air filter, all the extra mountings, and trims, it cost just under £200, but that was using silicon on the angles.

Been looking at doing a custom snorkel having seen Clives the other week looks brilliant, as for drain pipe Alex I can confirm not a problem with brittleness I used a section of drain pipe in my old car as an air feed, it ran very close to the turbo which frequently glowed white hot :thumb2 but no distortion or problems when cold so could be viable with silicone connectors :thumb2

On my little SJ410, which was for off road only, I made a waste water drain snorkel.

Wickes were having a throw out sale, and there was a box full of plastic weld waste water fittings for about 10p each. I got loads of angles, and a couple of lengths of pipe, and made a snorkel up, very crude but functional.

To be fair, it worked a dream, even if probably a bit on the small side, and definitely not big enough the the T2, but it did the job well, and many an hour was spent ploughing through wet bits. It even survived when I rolled the car onto the same side it was on, but one very cold day, driving through some trees, I caught the top of it, and the whole length shattered into lots of small bits.

Thanks for the advise all, liking the pictures of snorkels and "snorkels" :naughty

I guess I will have to have a look at trade centers like b and q, see what I can find.

Just a case of trying to make a list of necessary bits.

My theory says I will need one 90 degree bend for the air box exit, one roughly 60 degree bend for where the tube meets the windscreen pillar, and some straight tube with some flexi hose. And a snork head :thumb2
