Cheers for the advise Rustic, I had noticed a knock from the o/s/r and had a feeling that something was loose, the drop link looks like an easy fix though.

The brakes work fine but the hand brake will need adjusting, again my local garage would have advised or failed both of these, so the guy who did the MOT will be getting a visit/call from VOSA

Best not to repair the truck as this is primary evidence that they are not doing the job properly.

Cheers Rustic, like I said, I didn't have the car MOT'd, I bought it like that with a fresh MOT The garage is not close to me.:nenau
I had noticed some vibration while driving the car and I hope it is the UJ that's causing it.
Also found the rear drop link joint has play in it, so I will change this as well.

Just making a list with:rolleyes: Milners at the mo

A mate of mine is an MOT tester, he told me that you have so many days to complain about a test. There were 2 time tables, one for body work IE rust and one for everything else.

Im seeing him tomorrow as i have to get the BM tested, i will ask him the procedure for it and time scale.

It could be the MOT man and the sell both knew but wanted to make a few quid.

exhausts can go at any time 1mile 10 mile or whenever as can uj,s as i see it a mot is a inspection at that date an time why dig a load of trouble up can you guarantee that your driving has not contributed to the failures:nenau
end of the day there not major issues lot of infomation on here so get your hands dirty:thumbs
you will find a trend on here that some people fear the mot time stressing about it bitching when they get a fail and some who still bitch when they get a pass:confused:
my thinking i own a T2 it will go wrong i have better things to spend my money on than garage prices so plenty of tinkering to come lifes too short:lol
cheers Andy

It's done less than 100 miles since I bought the car with it's MOT, I agree that an exhaust could go at any time, but to be totally in half..no. There are to many things wrong with this to let it pass

It's always a good feeling when your car passes the dreaded test, but It's not a cheap test now days and these guys have a responsibility to do as best a job as possible.

Right, I have removed the prop and have got the uj soaking, I also removed the drop link (what i pig to get off).:(
Try as I may, I can't budge the bolts on the exhaust, so I will take it to my local garage and let them do it, they have a nice ramp and air tools:D

The ones on the manifold are done from underneath with long extension bar and universal joint i wouldnt put air tool on them most likely break them off

Cheers mate, I have tried to move them but nothing's happening, gave them a good dose of WD40 yesterday as well. At least if the garage does snap a bolt, they have the tools and room to get it out whilst on the ramp:nenau

When I bought my Mav from a dealer it had the mini filter problem, dealer fixed it at his expense. As there was ice on the roads when I bought it his statement 'OK when you bought it' did not stand up, who would give it loads of wellie on ice Take it back, contact comsumer direct

Uj takes about 5 mins

What's that, to undo each bolt, bloody 5 mins :lol:lol
I had to cut the yoke out in the end, just no room to slide it past the main body of the joint.
I had a look on youtube at how to remove these and they make it look so easy, just hope the new ones fit easier than removal:)

Saw the MOT man today for you and he told me you have 3 months to complain about the MOT for the exhaust providing it did not have any advisory notes on it.

You can check this on line, just incase you wernt giving it by the last owner.

Hope this helps.

PS BM passed as well. yippy!:clap

Drop link arm from DavMac in Kirkby in Ashfield are £17 + vat. hey are blue point as well, not cheap crap.

Thanks for that Kamsin, I am phoning the garage in the morning to see what that have to say.
I have already sent for a drop link off of ebay, so will see how it goes.

If you've allready had a go at the repairs I don't think you can complain!

mot

i had this happen to me i contacted the garage and the last owner and the both paid up for the repairs if you tell them you will go to vosa they will pay up, as the garage does not want to lose its m.o.t certifcate as its an easy earner for them

Ok, I have fitted the new UJ and what a difference it makes, no more vibrations in the car:thumb2:thumb2
I did call the garage and as predicted, he had an answer for everything:nenau:nenau
