shake rattle and roll ?

this morning when I went to start my truck , it fired up first time as always , but it shook like mad quite violently , ticked over briefly at around 500 rpm , then returned to normal ( about 750 rpm ) .

hasn't done it since

any ideas ?

uses no water at all , oil ok , and about a quarter of a tank of fuel ( cant reach the dipstick to check atf , but it cant be that ..... can it ? )

If it's first time it's done it I'd be tempted to leave it and see if it happens again. I'm guessing if you've been away you may of bought fuel from filling station that's not your usual so it's possible it's crap fuel. Go fill her up at your normal filling station and see what happens.

good point jim , but im using the same tank full of diesel I filled up with at home ..... strange innit ?

My work van did this a few weeks back, ran rough for a few minutes then it was fine, not done it since.
I put it down to early morning moody ness

ok ...... did it again this morning .... truck fired up first time , but chucked out a cloud of greyish black smoke which I think stunk of paraffin .... but I could be wrong , starts and runs fine ever since , but on first start up if left for a while it shudders quite badly for a second or two ,

drove down to Yarmouth this morning , everything fine , loads of power and no smoke ...... wtf ?

mine done this every morning till she warms up or I pull the hand throttle out

im confused.com ........ truck has been brilliant ever since , no problems first thing in the morning , pulls like a train , loads of power , ticks over normally ..... and im still on the same fuel that I filled up with at home :nenau
