Dont forget to check all your other levels, power steering, radiator/coolant/anti freeze etc.

If you can jack the car up, spin/wobble the wheels check the bearings.

Give the brake pads and disks a 'fettle' (good Yorkshire word there) pads dont come with loads on them anyways

Under the car check for any leaks, check condition of exhaust, check for rust etc etc.

Have a look at your bump stops, and anti roll bars (my ARB's need doing with only 38k on the clock!) shockers - helps if you can get someone to 'bounce' the car whilst you have a looky, these motors seem to eat rubbers for some reason!!!

Advice for changing oils.... check the filler bung comes out before emptying it all out!!!! :thumb2

One word of warning, "Dont do it on the drive" the neighbours son might come to visit:eek:

Also good practice to swap wheels from corner to corner... i.e. back NSR to front OSF etc.... should help with the wear.... but a pain in the ass unless you have a lift!
Where you getting your parts from?
Do you have a cabin/pollen filter... that might need changing.

good point about coolant, i need to do that as well!

ill probably stick to "fluid" changes first, breaks have recently been done, but yes, need to check the links etc underneath!

part-no idea yet, need to shop around once i know what i need

not sure about cabin filter..where would it be?

Behind glove box - see downloads section.

I get my service bits from PartCo... good quality and fair cheap - except for the air filter... tend to get that from Nissan after I had trouble with 'cheapo' ones knackering the MAF!!!!
When was the motor last serviced?

ill try them thanks for that! I have a K&N replacement filter fitted, so no worries there (MAF is behaving too!), as for last service, the previous owner reckoned he did an oil, oil filter and fuel filter change so thats about a year and half ago, but cars had a lot of work since. im assuming all other oils really need doing!

Aint gonna hurt to give all your oils a change/check... just for your own piece of mind :thumb2
Generally I just undo the filler and stick my finger in with the gearbox / LSD etc... if it gets wet at the top, leave them alone! :lol :lol :lol

i think the oil filter is a pig to get to, might have to do it from underneath if i remember correctly. i bought the bits and paid for it doing at a kwikfit with my parts..

im surprised kwik fit did it, every where I have been with my own parts refused to do the work. i just dont see the point in paying someone to do it when its as simple as undoing two bolts or a filter.

as for the LSD, I take it theres a filler bolt on the top, and drainage one at the bottom, so I need to buy new plugs? what LSD oil do I need? What Gear box oil do I need (or shoudldI leave it if its full?), what engine oil is suitable do you think?

i bought 1 of these to help the job on.. ebay Item number: 110514457116

Dont forget the transfer box too:D Propshaft grease nips, brake bias thingy and handbrake adjustment too. It's under the center console :thumbs

before you go draining the gearbox/diff make sure the top plug is not siezed in.Otherwise you will have to turn the truck upside down to fill it !!!

Soz pal, should only rotate tyres frontto back and vice versa on SAME SIDE,
its in handbook/manual somewhere.

I wont be doing wheel swap, tyres are still very new, ive probably done less than 500 miles in the last 8 months.

anyone adbvise on what TYPES/Brands of oil i need for engine, gearbox and lsd?

OILS from the manual:

Engine - API CE
Manual Gear Box - API GL-4
Transmission Box - API GL-4
Front Diff - API GL-5
Rear Diff - LSD API GL-5 80w90
Power Steering - Dexron
