I did try and breathed on it, but the dash readout didn't change. Maybe I've got cool breath :augie

I will check again tomorrow.

Hi I had same sensor on my spare wheel cover at the bottom thought it was to do with alarm but it wasn't so stupidly lost sensor but after I notice my temp reading on dash no longer showed reading have u disconnected urs to see if it does same thing Nissan has no record of the sensor at the rear door does urs have a number on it so I can go to Nissan and see if they can get it from that . By the way mine is a X reg year 2000

Or you killed it with bad breath :augie

I will keep my eyes peeled for this sensor as hopefully my bumper is coming off tomorrow. I will snap pics :thumb2

Good idea, i would like to see pics of both just to see.

Has anyone tried metering the wires out at the rear.

Right had it off in a manner of speaking :naughty Spare wheel that is...

This is a picture of it disconnected and I got a part number from it - 27722 2F010 which from a quick Google is an ambient sensor. The wiring diagram suggests it goes at the front of the vehicle

Here is another picture of it in situ on the spare wheel carrier, excuse the cobweb and green which is being cleaned by the tame valet guy as we speak :thumb2

I did try and warm it up to see if the dash read out changed, it didn't. I will pop it into a mug of warm water later today.

Hmm interesting, wonder if it feeds a temp reading to the ecu. Maybe engine cold start sensor or something.

It's just strange that there is no mention of it in the workshop manual, not that I could see anyway :nenau

Is it weird that I'm very excited about finding out what this is :lol

Took the spare wheel off the other day, in the wheel mounting bracket there is a wire and what I thought was a bulb, but when I removed it, it looks like a sensor.

Is this the temp sensor?

Bringing this thread back to life as I can't find any answers! The only thing that would make sense is that it's a temp. sensor but is it? :nenau
And in that case, I wonder why Nissan choose to fix it to the back instead of front!
Had my spare wheel off and noticed it that's why.

I fear I may start an argument now but here goes. I think it's because if the sensor gets wet and it's on the front of the vehicle it will suffer from winchill effect lowering the readout on the dash which wouldn't be an accurate reading

EDIT - Yes, it has to be wet as from hours of long arguments I've had with people about this, windchill cannot effect dry objects :nenau

Still wanna know what it is and why it is not mentioned in the manual :nenau
