you can buy batt tray in aus,and i reckon the tray out of a 160 would fit,but its where i can put the tanks is the prob,i might look underneath maybe on a chassis runner

batt

oops didnt notice it was on a y61..

ive never looked under the bonnet of one of them!

Check with your insurance company, that's the reason why my T2 still has a standard single battery.

Jim

My patrol already has a second battery, so it could be optional and so not be an insurance issue :D

Mine's a Y60 . I'll get a pic done for you tomorrow. Checkout nissanpatrol.com.au Forum has ALL the info you'll ever need and more :thumb2

y60

y60's don't have the extra vacuum and header tanks like the y61,i'm on that forum ,i bought one of the ecutalk display they rave about but it would not connect to my car,as anybody on here fitted an ecutalk to there y61 2.8

I made up all the bits for mine, tray / clamp, cables, relay in the form of a starter solenoid, so on selection, the second battery could be used to assist start the Mav from a push button switch inside.

BUT I never fitted it.......... because after checking with Direct Line they said is was a NO NO !!!

So Next month insurance is due.....

So does anyone know an insurance company that will allow it, then I can fit it ....:nenau :nenau

some of the mistrals came with a second battery.

i was toying with it on first t2, reckoned there was
room for a battery box that could double as a
tool box, though pals on here investigations
with insurance company drew plan to close.

daft as could have one in boot, for caravan and
be a lot more messy for occupants than under
bonnet.

think it was TRS terranosauras that was building
trays.

in my new mk4 the space is occupies by a much
larger screen wash tank, funny as mk2 had tank
i think under wing. with tall filler neck?

Who is best insurance company?

Well insurance is due. The Red phone company want approx £200 fully comp, an extra £40 to protect no claims and £26 for legal protection, but no second battery.
Mods inc tow bar, parking sensors, wider tyres, high level brake light,
drilled and grooved front brake discs, 2 gallons of waxoyl :lol :lol

Can anybody beat that?

I've tried Adrian Flux, on their free call back, there is only so long you can listen to canned music....:doh I gave up in the end... not impressed.:doh

I would of waited for adrian flux, They let you insure just about any mods.

Well, I convinced my CURRENT insurance company that I could fit a second battery, so I dug out all the bits and I shoe horned an identical sized battery on the passenger side.
I used a new ( ebay) starter solenoid from a 70's series BL car controlled via a button in the car, to pull in the second battery IF the original one finds the going tough.

I have also fitted a 40 amp relay on the rear of this that connects when the ignition is on, or the engine is running BUT NOT during the actual sting cycle, as it would burn out the 40 Amp relay.

So the second battery gets charged when the engine is running.:thumb2

And here is a pic of the installation, you can see the solenoid to the left of the battery.
Best regards, Rustic
