Hi guys,
I have just removed my starter motor of 6 months since it was reconditioned to find it very rusty! It was causing starting issues, the starter dog and spindle are quite rusty! On inspection the flywheel has a rusty appearance, and minute spots of water can be seen around the starter dog area in the dog aperture. I haven't been driving in water or loosing engine coolant. Has anyone any ideas! is there a core plug at the rear of the engine/inside the bell housing area that could be weeping! Your thoughts and ideas will be much appreciated.

Bit of a mystery where the water is coming from but there is a plug in the bottom of the bell housing you can remove by unscrewing to drain it if there is any in there, you could leave it out for a time to dry it out and see if it persists.

Toolbox,
Thanks for your input ,good start re plug , i'll be on that one tomorrow..
