I've been looking for a set of roof rails for a couple of year now. Got let down by an ebayer earlier this year - sold a set of clamp on roof bars to me as roof rails, needed trading standards to be involved to get a refund. So far the seller has still not collected the incorrect parts, but in law they are not mine, so can't sell them on.
Anyway, been looking at various options. Genuine Ford/Nissan, forget it, like hens teeth and too expensive.
Second hand Nissan & ford - they just don't exist!!!!
New aftermarket rails from the likes of Ironfly - expensive, plus don't look that strong.
Second hand none Nissan - Hummingbird fitted some Skoda ones to his SWB terrano, so I've been looking for some that would seem to be suitable.
What I've ended up with is a set of Suzuki Jimny (newer SJ type jeep) rails. On the Jimny they are almost a full length roof rail, so on the nissan they extend from the rear of the roof to the point just above the door apertures. The design is also slightly different than most roof bars, in that the bars & feet are a bonded unit, ie the bars bolt to the roof, and then a plastic cover fits over the mounting point - a lot of roof bars are a seperate foot/mount point, these bolt as individual pieces to the roof, then the bar bolts to the foot.
The pictures below show the bars "dry fitted", ie not bolted to the roof, still waiting to source a rivnut inserter (Hummingbird is looking into this for me) and they are no a bad shape for the SWB Terrano roof, the back of the rear mount stands proud by a couple of mil but the rubber that fits between roof & rails will probably mask this.

Cost was £29 from e-bay, just thought people maylike to know of another type of roof bar that they may want to fit to a SWB. I also think becuase they are a "chunky" profile roof bar that they suit the Terrano, and they almost look slightly like Pathfinder roof rails, but in scale with the Terrano's size.
