OK, so where have all the "Old regular" members gone?

We mentioned Richo, but I still have no idea what happened to him, then what about Makeitfit, not seen a post from him for a while???

Alex has dropped us, now he has a new interest in his life.

There are several faces that seem to be laying low...

Where has everyone gone?

I miss all the old banter, even if it did get a bit out of hand occasionally, the great thing about this forum was someone brought it back in line pretty quickly, but now it's nearly all serious post (apart from a couple of terrible jokes :thumb2), and there is nothing to make reading all the threads compelling now.

Come on guys.. where are you all, at least try and pop in a couple of times a week, as you all (well most of you :doh) have so much information to share with everyone.

:clap:clap:clap

So who is still here

Me...:doh

A week or so ago, following my diagnosis, I couldn't be bothered with anything, then following a few personal messages, with some kind encouragement and a change in medication,:doh I feel as though I can still offer something for the club. So you have to put up with my knowledge and logic in fault finding, whether it be right or wrong lol... :lol

These vehicles don't last forever, we do our best to keep them on the road, but there are no new Terranos being built, so the pool of Terrano ownership is getting smaller.
There are more Patrols coming in of late, but very few, if any Navara or Pathfinders or Muranos.

A lot of posts these days are non car related, computers, health, holidays, etc etc These are great, and what makes the club something special.

The forum will get busy again after the first frost, when car won't start, or produce white smoke.

So the BIG question.
How much longer is this club likely to be going?:nenau
I intend to remain a member as long as I have My Mav at least.
If I can still help I will.

I often see Alex posting on FB & the same with makeitfit but think Pete has been doing a lot of sailing lately:augie I've not been on much due to having a big b/day & going away for our 14th wedding anniversary:augie

As discussed before, isn't FB the biggest threat?

Yes & no TBH yes people do seem to chat more on the groups but it can also lead to some mega kick off's:lol but all the good info soon gets lost in the posts on the pages & takes a life time to find unlike forums where you can in most cases do a search or go to the right section to hunt down the topic you need info on:clap

I'm still here :thumbs

R1cho sold his Terrano but is still on FB.

Think we might have chased off Alex...

I reckon people are just busy (I know I am) :nenau

My personal view is that a lot of people like FaceAche because it is unmoderated, and more anonymous, so you can say what you like to whom you like with no repercussions.

Here on the other hand, there is more respect for people's opinions, and, to a degree, feelings. There are also moderators to keep an eye on things.

Sadly, I feel that things like FaceAche are contributing to the general lowering of public morality and decency, but unfortunately the vast majority of people don't give a crap about anyone or anything else unless it interferes with their wishes.

Don't talk rubbish!

Calm down.

I didn't say ALL people.

I didn't say solely responsible.

I stand by my remarks. If people aren't pulled back when they upset/bully/insult it becomes the norm. It's just like good parenting.

Members manners on this site are good, there is respect. I see a much lower level of respect on FaceAche, and it is reflected in general society.

:nenau

Obviously I was joking up there. :sly

This I agree with, people will push the boundaries when they think they can get away with it, more often than not, when confronted are happy to blame the victim for not having a sense of humour, not understanding banter or whatever.

People do not recognise their own failings or have the balls to apologise.

This place I like.

I am back guys and girls!
I have noticed that this forum has lost its sparkle.
Members have gone, members have joined.
I don't know what has happened since I left and rejoined but it isn't good for the forum, but with the help of the members I'm sure we can pull things back from this dry spell.
We need more member interaction and lots of banter !!
We need to get these club meet ups going, maybe a bit of green laneing and new members through advertisements at the shows.

I know that the site has cards to down load, leaflets to down load but in all honesty who has ever done this???

I messaged bat21 a few days ago, no reply..... Is bat21 still interested as much any more?

No doubt there are issues but a lot can be resolved.

Watch this space..........

bellow is a thread I started a while ago as I wanted to know how many members there actually were (Answers in post 12 from Bat 21) less than many thought I think. But its still a lot when you consider you always see the same Dozen or so name on most of the threads.
I think many join when they first get their car,to help sort out any problems and then don't bother any more . If you look on the members list many of the names ,the last time they visited was the same day they joined

I can't stand face book so your stuck with me:lol

I'll throw this in the ring as an example of a forum that is very busy. http://singletrackworld.com/forum/forum/off-topic

The main reason cited for its success is its clean design, only two main sections. One for chat and one for bikes. I accept it's built around a magazine, but I think that costs could be cut here by removing some of the lesser used sub forums. I wouldn't mind having technical or car related questions being lumped into one single page shouldn't pose a problem. I generally look on the main page here at the most recent threads, research is satisfied with the search function.

Left Facebook never to return!

I left Facebook about a month ago just got fed up of some friends bleating about where they had gone on holiday abroad with endless pictures and a lot of women posting pictures of themselves and then mates (women) saying "how great you look babes". Never struck me as a place for vehicle advice or proper talk plus the ranting expletives from drunken FB'ers.

I joined this forum when we had the Terrano r3mR and have stayed. I have unanswered questions on Jeep forums about small problems or seeking advice and ziltch replies or duff gen. Even got thrown off the Hyundai Site for naff all except citing my experience at the hand of a local dealer.

Yes Terrano owners are a shrinking pool and the Muranos never sold in any volume in the UK. I am sure lots of members have moved to other 4 x 4 s but we could retain them if the members other rides section had sub groups for say Jeep or dare I say it Landrover owners who moved away from Terranos. (Assuming thats not technically too difficult)

I have had more Jeep advice here than from the two Jeep Forums I have used plus we are a sound mix of members with many tastes and different characters. Plus we have our overseas visitors. Long live this Forum!!

Anyway when the Jeep comes up for replacing I fancy a Patrol just could not find one when we needed to replace the Hyundai at short notice!

Some interesting points of view today. I have to say I think Faceache is definitely effecting forums of all kinds. I still prefer this forum for the reasons already stated. This forum has evolved and members have come and gone, some have stayed and there's been spats but generally speaking it's been stable and reasonably reliable. Hope it carries on because it's well worth being a member. Don't think I would of even thought about a project car if it hadn't been for this forum, as it is Im thoroughly enjoying the project and also posting about it. The advice I've had has been priceless. The club/forum has changed over the years and I think always will.

Just watch members and new members arrive as said with the first frosts and defo the snow when wipers don't work or 4wd :doh

As the evenings draw in that will also make a difference too.

I'm around, just cars is not my area of expertise so tend to hold back, but check in daily to see whats going on
