what you can and can't put in your tank!

is you talking about this bit ?

2.1 What fuel can I legally use in a diesel-engined road vehicle?

Apart from the circumstances described in paragraph 2.1.1 below you must always use duty paid fuel.

2.1.1 Certain biodiesel and fuel substitute producers and users, who meet the definition of ‘exempt producers’, can use limited amounts of fuel which has not been duty paid. For more details see Section 4 of Notice 179E Biofuels and other fuel substitutes.

thier's too many big words in both of these

thing is how do they know you have used/made over 2500 ltrs and what is the point to the limit

i find this subject very confusing so i stay out of it lol

they know everything :naughty:naughty its all to do with the monitor on ecu . A quick usb connection and its sorted

the evidence will convict you and/or get the rebate

but mine aint got an ecu as such well not one which you can plug into lol

that you know about. Some manf have been fitting them since the 1980s on early electronic control systems. The data is petty good.

I defy anyone to find anything other than the fag lighter socket to be useful to plug anything into on my truck:doh

the point to the limit Karl was just that there was a huge fuss about SVO/WVO a few years back until the authorities discovered that only a tiny handful of vehicles could successfully run on it, then when home-made biodiesel came in, that too had problems that made it a seriously minority interest, so they figured it was easier to make a small concession to the alternative fuel brigade, but not one big enough that it offered an incentive to big commercial users, hence the 2500 litres/year limit. If you use 2501 litres you pay duty on THE LOT, and its a requirement that you maintain detailed records of usage for that reason but as Daved will tell you, HMRC and the scuffers aren't interested these days, unless your diesel is RED that is! LOL

ah thats alright then the stuff i use is yellow :doh

I think someone pissed in your tank:confused:

Still, you wouldn't really notice in that old 'horn would ya!:lol

probably go faster lol

its yellow due to the injector cleaner i am running a through

how would that be if you had some redex in the tank ??

sorry i missed so many posts, i was outside looking for the usb port on my ecu in the dark! :augie

anyway, they do use yellow dye in some rebated fuels! so not just red diesel but yellow stuff too!

it also explodes myths about having two tanks one for red and swithcing when off road - no! according to her magesties inspectors it can not be done! if you have a tank connected to your engine even with a tap or valve that holds rebated fuel (red or yellow) it is illegal!

All interesting, if complicated, stuff!
