I understand that it may create more ripples than intended with this guy, but he has no right to block, alter, divert rights of way, on a whim. If it is marked up on a definitive map.....that is exactly what it is.....definitive...:doh
The local rights of way officer should be informed, also if you are that incensed by it, contact CPRE, and get them on the case, I would suggest getting your local Ramblers Assoc. on the case, but you may get flak off them if you are using a 4x4 on the route.......
 
I have a right of way/public foot path running the length of my plot some 300 mtrs, upon owning the land some 12 years now, I located the definitive foot path route and as it was alongside the southern boundary I fenced it off with a style each end, I informed the department concerned and they wrote back that as long as it was at least a mtr wide and no barbed wire was used then it was fine, I do not believe anyone came to check, in the mean time it has become completely overgrown and almost impassable as so few use it, many say I should keep it clear, but my attitude is if not enough use it to self clear then tough down to the council to sort it, Rick
