After weeks of trying to get things together to replace my windscreen. This week end I decided to get it done.
After Rick came to the rescue (again) with a second hand screen, and we managed to get it over here, I got the glue from a local motor factors. It was 21€ for each kit which contains a tube of adhesive, primer and a cotton swab. I decided to get two kits and it as well I did as I needed one and a half tubes to do the screen. you need good eyes as the instructions are so small they'r almost impossible to read.

First problem is the windscreen wipers, they don't just pop off! and I didn't have a puller so i improvised one out of a worktop bolt, and with a bit of Knackeling managed to get them off

Next is the front plastic cowl held on by two plastic trim clips and a central screw ,also a seal under the bonnet held in by plastic trim clips.

Next remove the door seals and the metal side trims these are held in by four philips screws, the bottom two of which were badly corroded but came out with the help of some WD40 and an impact driver

I then cut a slot in the old adhesive with a fine tooth saw to allow me to get a wire through.

I passed the wire through and attached it to two handles. Cutting through is laborious and takes hours,I went through 10 meters of different wires . thin steel wire cuts well but du to the heat caused by the friction snaps rgulaly also the heat is so much if you try to go to fast the sealant re welds it'self after the wire has gone through it.
I found the best wire was steel multistrand suspension wire

With the old screen out ,you then have to trim the old adhesive to no more than 1mm

I'll wait until this is finished and I'll be turning this into a workshop download

Hat off to you buddy!!!! :bow

The new (or second hand) screen then has to be thoroughly cleaned and the edges coated withe the primer. This has then to be left at least 10mins.
I left it over night.

you should then offer the screen up to the car get it in the correct place and mark its position with some masking tape. A bead of adhesive then has to be applied to both the car and the screen .It can then be lifted in to place.

Then get your supervisor to inspect your work , then re fit all the trim .
Make sure when removing the screen you don't damage the green seating blocks as you need these to position the screen and they stop any slump.

Really impressed with that! I wouldn't have the bottle to tackle that job.

An excellent step by step guide, but I wouldn't want to try. Paying the £70 excess and watching someone else do it seems better every day. :D

Jonela, respect :bow

I wouldn't want to do this myself. I will though steel your windscreen wiper removal trick :D

great job there, i'll be doing this myself soon so this writeup came just at the right time :thumb2:thumbs

Yes well done John, and an excellent write up and pics, so glad the screen made it in one piece, Rick
