Hi all

My patrol failed MOT last December on chassis rot. You can run your hand inside the chassis rail on the N/S for about 14inches from where the chassis rail comes down from the front and past the gearbox crossmember.

Anyway, I had been putting off fixing it as I thought the car was going to be a pest to fix (I haven't learnt welding yet), also didn't want to scrap it as it seemed a waste.

I have access to my works workshop with overhead crane so I wondered if anyone could advise on removing the body, is it straight forward? I am planning on removing the body and sorting out the chassis properly and then tackling the sills with help from a friend who's a fabricator.

Also, lastly, has anyone managed to repair wings? Mine are quite rotten but not up to the point where the arch trim starts.

I've got one :D
Body off shouldn't be a challenge. Not done it yet myself but there's only 8 bolts on the SWB :thumbs
As far as wings are concerned , get your fabricator mate to let in some new steel ;)
There's a huge thread on here from another trol member with a body off resto , but I just can't think of his handle  Have a quick search and go for it , only nuts n bolts

No-one own a Patrol anymore?

I'm surprised you hadn't noticed this thread, as it's been going quite a while, and I notice that you have been a member since 2010.
I guess you don't drop in that often.
Sounds like you have better facilities than Flyingtorquewrench, under cover and a hoist.
Good luck.:thumb2

Only seen this thread now as I have been a bit busy with other things.

Have you managed to get the body off? Could you post a piccy of the rot in your chassis rail. It normally seems to be the rear end (after the rear axle) which rots away.

I still have to repair my wings but just in the process of buying house with more space. So I can have another shed to work on the Trol.
