Right

I know its a LSD on the back & it has to have LSD Oil :thumbs

But

I just want to know what the difference is between LSD & normal axle oil please

Idiot guide explanation or linky :thumbs

I'm guessing its to do with lubrication as opposed to thickness

its got friction modifers in it and copes with the heat build up better i think?
cheers Andy

Right so the LSD runs hotter due to more work load

A bit like how Anti-Freeze works with water in the cold

More friction than normal oil, as the clutch pack needs as much as it can get while still being lubricated - opposite to normal diff/gearbox.. Worst thing you can do, as somebody on here now knows, is stick Molyslip in yer LSD :augie

Please re-embarrass the said member :naughty  :lol

I always get mine from Nissan

i use comma oils from my local motor factors quite resonable price
just a thought i have a high pitched ringing noise that seems to come from the back end when free wheeling and tends to go away when i accelarate could this be coming from the diff?:nenau

all things are possible, but could just as easily be brake drums, bearing etc..etc..

cheers will have to investigate saying that since fitting a K/N it drowns it out a bit
happy days:thumbs

I use the LSD comma oil as well
Good price too

mine needs changing, I'm going to use comma.

question, would it hurt a non LSD diff to use LSD oil? :nenau

a pointless question, i know, but we do a lot of that around here :augie

I am sure you can use LSD oil in a 'non' LSD axle but not the other way round..I also used comma oil, bought it mail order on the internet (was doing all oils in drivetrain so cost in ok with postage) from Wilko's.. it was up north somewhere but very reasonable compared to prices down here in the SE :thumb2

There is a Comma stockist on the southend road going to Shotgate, just west of the railway bridge north side

ringing noise
