Is it just my Patrol or do any other Patrol owners find there rear lights fall out of the bumper when they drive through water ?

Maybe mine is missing something but basically have a black plastic ring around the light which the light screws to but this ring just has tabs going through slots in the bumper that hold it to the car, if you go through more than 1/2 meter of water the preasure behind pushes them out, should the tabs fix to something ?? I have bent them about this has made it a bit better but not a lot.

Kind regards

Russell.

Nope just the tabs I'm afraid!

Mine popped out going down the Strata Florida bombhole last year and acquired a couple of self tappers each until I got rid of them completely

I would just get euro spec rear lights like I did and bin the bumper lights full stop :nenau

Each of the tabs should have a toothed spring clip on to hold it in position. As new I think it has one on every tab (about 8 per side?, I can't remember how many tabs there are). I have never have more than a 2 or 3 on each side. They are a right %**% to get on as the access is very poor. Over time they shake loose and disappear.

Having just spend some time looking, the clip does not seem to feature on any Patrol parts list, but is on the 300zx :nenau

Anyway it looks like this, and to hold the lamp surround in place you need at least 4. You will also need a lot of patience to get them on. :augie

When you did your euro rear lights did you change or mod the existing and if you changed them do you want to sell the nearside as I have just smashed mine greenlining.

Kind regards

Regards.

From memory Ian kept his bumper lights bud although I did remove mine (and still have them) although the plastic surround is a bit scratched from offroading and have two holes in each from the self tappers :nenau

I have kept mine and I am getting more retaining clips to hold them in better and LED lights to go in them. You can never have too many lights :clap:clap

On the clip subject, I was in my "friendly" Nissan dealer last week and he checked on the database and there are 16 of these clips used on the car, 8 each side. So how come nobody ever seems to have more than a couple still in place. :nenau
