Hi again, here is my problem, the drivers side rear brake drum is getting hot and causing a noise when at 60-70
I've swaped rear drums over still this side getting hot
I've changed the handbrake cable and all the springs on shoes
Tried driving with both the brakes and cable slack
It had new shoes and cylinders and brake lines going back to the flexi
But it's still getting hot but not binding if turned by hand.
Could it be the flexi holding pressure as I see it's close to the wheel I'm having the trouble with.
I've even jumped under and felt the axel, hub and backplate but is cool as the drum is hot ??
All this started as soon as I replaced the cylinders and shoes :nenau

You might be looking at this all wrong!!!!!!!

Could it not be your bearing?

What sort of noise is it making and is there any vibration with it?

Is there any sign of something has been rubbing when you remove the drum?

If it was the bearing wouldn't the hub get hot and would make the noise all the time and more so on bends when the weight gets increased onto the offending side :nenau and no signs of rubbing but the shoes must be making contact otherwise the drum wouldn't get hot ??

Can you compare both sides with the drums off at the same time to check they've been put back together correctly

Yeah done it many times and even took a photo before :lol

It's like a drumming noise and does sound and feel like the handbrake binding it's not the tyres as I've had two new ones. Only makes the noise around 65 mph. I don't know if the noise and drum getting hot are related as yet but if I can sort the drum problem first I'm hoping the noise will stop:naughty

Ahh is it the same noise that you had a few weeks ago when you had the steering parts replaced? It worries me as I've got a similar if not the same noise. My steering bits have been changed too, I took mine in for tracking and wheel balancing last Monday which was done. However a rear stud snapped and they didn't have enough time to remove the drum to replace. I've had a look at the manual and to be honest I think the stud is beyond what I can do so booked in at a local garage for the stud and the rear brakes looking at. Not checked for heat so I'll take it out for a run round to see if there is any heat with mine too.

Just wondering if your heat and noise are two separate problems.

my first thought after the brakes have been sorted would be a bearing.
i have a noise on mine when i get around 50 but get to around 70 and it quietens down.:nenau
hubs not getting hot though even after a run they both feel the same.
could be my tyres as im running muds.

Let me know how you get on, I've got a new flex pipe so that's my next job I also wonder if it's the new copper lines which I replaced at the same time:nenau

or spring kit & some lube on the hand brake cable :nenau

its around 1.5 litres

On level ground, fill it from the top with the middle plug out to get the correct level ;) :thumbs

If your drums are not binding when you spin the wheel then I don't think that's the problem, one thing you could try is spinning the wheel after a run to see how it spins then. My money would be on the Bearing. God look :thumb2

The bearing would be getting that warm that it would just dissipate heat through whatever it was in contact with

Jack that wheel up and with the truck supported so it doesn't roll spin the wheel and listen out
