What is the maximum size wheel/Tyre that can be fitted to the rear door spare wheel bracket, and still be able to close the door?

I don't want to have to carry the spare inside.

Don't go over 31s on the door  My door struggled pretty quick with 33s on it :doh
If you need to carry a big wheel on the back then go for a swing frame jobbie :thumb2

I've got a General Grabber AT2 265/70/16 on mine and there is a only couple of mm clearance at the bottom.
This is the best photo I've got, but doesn't really show you anything;

Bugger, I'd set my heart on 33's.

Thanks for the info mate.

Did you find out the offset of the wheels?

Thanks Mate. What is the offset of your wheels ?

Looks well on those.

Another size to research. :doh

I've no idea, I phoned Charles (IIRC) at JCS tyres, told him I was driving and what tyres I wanted and he posted them to me.

I have a 31 inch spare on the back of mine which just fits.I think you can turn the bracket upside down to get bit more clearance, maybe someone on here has tried?

You might have to put some spacers on the bracket, to give clearance for the rear screen wiper.

I went up to 235's and I fitted 3 thick washers, some insulation tape on them to stop them rusting and coming off with the wheel.

The later trucks might have more clearance on the bracket already.

So do check.:thumbs

Thinking on, you could always bolt a plate on, and raise the studs.

Either by removing the old ones, fitting a plate and refitting the studs to the new plate.

I did a thread on it somewhere, but the bloody crappy search thing here says no :doh
Anyway, yes, turn the bracket upside down and wheel spacers may be needed for offset clearance :thumb2

I suppose you could weld a strengthening plate diagonally across the bracket to stop it failing, and then keep a close eye on the door skin and hinges...

I didn't realise turning the bracket around would give extra height...

I have got my first P&P day on the 14th, so got to get this sorted, currently wearing road biased tyres with about 4mm on...

My car is fitted with 235 65 17 wheel/tyres as standard, the spare fits fine

Well I started today on the van conversion, Took the rear seats out no probs.

Seatbelts were another matter, as I unscrewed the seatbelt bolt on the o/s rear wing I simply unscrewed the whole bracket straight out of the metal, which is as rotten as the proverbial pear.

Been around frantically stabbing the underbody but the rear arches and boot floor ar the only problems I can find.

Has anyone repired these, sure many have, and what prices am I looking at for a garage to do the work Can't weld for toffee:doh

This is a fairly common problem, i can't help much but you could try the search button and see if there are any other threads :thumb2

is this the area you mean?
