can anyone tell me if there should be a spring on the auto adjuster or show me a pic of the inside of the rear brakes . because the L shaped arm looks like it just hangs there on the left hand brake shoe .

Silly but that pic does not show the spring you need, but do not worry bin item 11 as they never worked anyway, only after around 2000 with the modified brakes do they work, if you realy want to fit it then I have loads of these springs as removed them from all the T2's I have, Rick

well brakes done now new shoes and pads and wheel cylinders and brake lines as they wouldn't come off the wheel cylinders . plus sorted the seized pins on the front .
