ok heres a little writeup with pics for re-indexing the torsions

Firstly jack the front end up under the main x-member

then get ya arse dirty and get under the truck, what you need to do is remove these two nuts

then remove the adjusting bolt

when you do this the truck will move at the front end this is normal, i'm only telling you so you are prepared for it

next slide back the rubber boot that is hiding the circlip

then remove the circlip

goto the front of the truck and slide back the rubber boot that is there

when you have done that draw or scratch a reference line on the torsion bar and the torsion mount, there isn't one on the pic but you get the idea

now go back to the other end where you removed the adjusting bolt and nuts from

if you look at the pic with the circlip again you can see it has a lip on it, there is another lip on the opposite side these like to catch on the xmember the way i got around this was to jack up the wishbone a touch so it just sort of floated in the air, now the fun bit, you need to pull the torsion bar towards the back of the truck, sometimes they stick i just use a hammer and chisel to move them back till the splines are free

when it has come out you will see the splines come out of the mounting bracket at the front

now you need to turn the bar towards the opposite side of the truck by one maybe two splines, thats why i said draw the line it acts as a reference point to where the splines originally sat.

push bar back in and replace adjust bolt and nuts then re-tighten upto the height you wanted (ideally you want it a touch lower than the back )

then go for a drive round to bed them in if height drops again you should just be able to use the adjusting bolt and nuts to get back to where you want. hope this has helped

about time there was a write up about lifting/resetting the torsion bars :thumbs

Yes I'm excited lol

It's a great idea to remove the body of the car to do this, lets more light in, better than lying on your back on a cold floor.
:lol

Seriously though, can anybody do a write up as a workshop download...:nenau

Saves having to search the files.:thumbs:thumbs

Thank you.... perfect

:clap:clap:clap:bow

Now I will have to find another excuse to not go under the car and have a go. :naughty:naughty

Im just amazed he's not set it on fire...........................AGAIN :lol

have sent bat21 the docs needed so it will be added to the download section

Just one quick question to clarify

Passengers side = Anti Clockwise
Drivers side = Clockwise

Correct?

no other way round

Is that as if I'm facing the back of the car or front of the car?

Also how do you get that damn circlip off!!!!!!! My circlip removers are too small :( My torsion bar is freeeeeeeee :D just wont go far enough back free of the splines so I can rotate it!!!!

Might have to pop to Halfords to get a new set before they close unless you can give me a bodge way to get them off lol
