Finally bit the bullet today as over the last few weeks there has been less and less pixels in the display until at one point there was only two random segments lit up.
So I happened to be chatting to a friend about a dab radio in Halfords with all the Bluetooth facilities. He offered a Pioneer radio as a freebie that he had in his garage, it doesn’t have DAB but I can live with that. So a nice Pioneer with all the Bluetooth functionality and USB too. Took ages to fit finally found a metal section behind where the radio fits that was preventing the catches on the DIN case from retracting far enough. Anyhoo here it is and have to say even if I had paid for it I would still be i pressed.

Nice work.
I'm still up for putting a DAB in the car, just a little nervous about potential NATS problems.

I personally don’t think there will be any NATs problems, my project truck has had a JVC unit in for the last 2 1/2 years and my 05 plate when I had it came with a Sony unit that someone had fitted previously.

New radio it is then. Cheers Jim. I'm sick to death of Radio 1 and a usb connection would be cool too.

Was that a replacement for the 'built-in-hazard switch' mess of a setup?

If so, how about a wiring diagram so I can write it down ready for when i get round to doing mine
Pleeeeeaaaassssse :naughty

It’s the factory fit bezel and genuine switch from the later model, I went to see someone breaking one and gave him a fiver for it:clap

So you just unplugged it from the radio and straight into the switch?
For a fiver?
Jammy git :lol

Yes I think it’s the same switch as a primera and the bezel is the type that pops up on ebay for around £100 but those are new. My 05 plate had the same switch and bezel. When I got the bezel the bloke just cut wires rather than unplugging it so I got a spare plug just in case but turns out it’s the very same brown plug.

Feeling happy but just discovered one of the heater control bulbs is duff so that’s everything to come out again.

And the radio plays class music too, look at the display haha

I bit the bullet and stuck in a double din. I know have sat nav, DAB and a dvd player looks quite at home in there as well.

Just added photo ;). Hazard switch is hanging about somewhere behind at the mo, Need to extend the wires and move it.

Cheers guys. Doug I didnt do a thread as it was boxing day when I did it. But it was straight forward enough. I'll stick some pictures up.

Did you have that stupid metal frame inside the cavity? I ended up having to remove it so the single din cage and radio would fit properly

I did have to remove the cage and ended up with this.

I then had to remove the plastic strip across the top that the hazard light went through and fit the brackets to the side of the radio like this.

DAB aerial and GPS mount on passenger side pillar and dash like this.

Then the whole unit just slides into the space provided and the centre console screws back on and holds it all in place. I pulled the USB cables into the glove box like this.

And just for good measure I went and stuck a reversing camera in my rear number plate mount.

Its right inbetween my towing sockets and gives excellent vision when hooking a trailer up. :)

Tdoug, I need to take mine apart again cos bulbs gone in heater controls so you are more than welcome to nip across and see for yourself mate.
