When driving my R3mR 2.7 TD Auto there is a strange sensation when driving at around 65 mph as the vehicle shifts into O/D top gear. It feels as if the rear suspension is momentarily rising and then returning to normal. The suspension was all OK at the last MoT with no reported issues of wear etc.

It feels as though the rear axle is lurching with the torque as it shifts into top gear. I can reproduce the effect if I ease off the throttle and then take up the drive again without a gear change if driving at 65-70 mph.

I have had this vehicle for almost two years and it has always given me a feeling of unease when this happens but at higher speeds no noticable effects. I feel that its got worse in the last six months or so anyone any ideas where to start looking ?

My money, having seen something similar on a T2, would be on a developing problem with the autobox top gear sensor.

Reality is its probably cheaper to wait til it breaks than pay some bugger to dismantle and 'diagnose' the whole box....

The rear suspension seems on the soft side could it be that the rear shockers are knackered ?
