Just seen a place called Barmouth on country file on tv . Looks lovely. Does anyone know anything about it? is it worth visiting?

Considering where to go in June with the caravan.

hmm ok well i'll answer that one then .

never been there . your closest is pete he will know , and he's welsh ..... sadly not a gentleman:lol:lol:lol

west coast is very nice though . but you might find its GOG country

Sorry it's closed :lol

You could be lucky in June if it's not raining:lol
It is a typical Victorian type promanade type seaside place. Stunning surrounding countryside and it is in GOG land:doh However dont let that put you off, they still need your money:D
No idea what it's like for tin tenting, other than you'll have a queue behind you.......

I went there last year - and will be there again in June this year!! :thumb2

Nice town, plenty of little gifty shops, prom, beach etc - imaging Filey, bit bigger with better views! LOADS of campsites round there, although cause its so hilly alot of them only seem to cater for tents. Nice walking and sight seeing all around that area.

We stayed at Argoed last time, and booked again this time - its near Shell Island and mid-way between Porthmadog and Barmouth. Porthmadog for the Tesco's and bigger shops.

Site we stayed at was a CL - would recommend it, hook-ups, views, showers/toilets etc details are here:

Couldnt recommend it enough! :thumb2 :thumb2

lol, got that feeling when I visited Brawdy & Haverford West a few times. How to silence a pub? place an order in an English accent, I jest not. A "lady" in one pub asked me to speak slower because she couldnt understand .

Bovvered :nenau:D

ive found the south the most welcoming place in the uk .
yes you get jokes and banter , bare in mind i live in a vary small ex mining village you would expect hassle, but its the opposite ive never felt more at home anywhere .

nicest place ever . and pubs never go quiet.

north the dont seem to like the english , worse still when you tell them your from south wales . but thats only what i have found

fantastic countryside though

Ahhh.........thanks.

I used to visit Brawdy regularly, many times over and generally hated it. I dont recall it ever not raining.

You know when you see all the troops in their green cammo gortex gear ? well when that first came out in the 80s we were one of the squadrons given it to test.....it leaked at Brawdy :D

We went indoors one evening for a couple or ten beers to warm up and cheer up, the locals wanted to fight because they didnt like the way we kept putting Tom Jones on the juke box to sing along with, sacrilege was one word they mumbled. Were more offended when we asked for Bon Jovi cos he was a better singer.

Got our own back though, bit of surfing on the tables. Bit of brickwork on the way back to our accomodation. I mean what did they expect, ex brickie (or so he said) with us, contractor left all the gear and bricks laying around. Only phone box for some distance just begging for a wall to be built around it, nice bright moonlit night, no one around :nenau

Come to think of it, maybe there was a reason we werent welcome :augie oh happy days.

Seem to like the Irish in Wales and Scotland, never had any problem, and they could understand my accent:thumb2:thumb2 Now England, that's a whole other story :(

Listen, there are hardly any welsh people left.

The south is full of Londoners, mid-Wales is full of Brummies, while the north is all Scousers and Mancunians....

Barmouth is a nice little place Dave - easy reach of Snowdonia, Anglesey, Portmerion and all sorts of great places.....and if you bring a bottle you can have a couple of nights here on the way there or back...when are you looking at going?
