i'm in the early stages of designing a camper trailer that i want to build on to the horsebox chassis that i have.
I was hoping to use aluminium to keep the weight down.
This is along the lines of what i have in mind.
I hadn't realised I was being prophetic. :lol
Now that looks pretty bloody good. :thumb2

Don't forget the stabilising legs. :augie

That's exactly what I envisaged when I had this idea :thumb2

Me and paultrol got chatting about the camper trailer idea when we where sat around the campfire in the lakes.
Most of the time the trailer sits idle on the drive so would make a nice little winter project:thumb2

how about an existing box, like removed from a chassis cab vehicle.

could make it a swap body, so as to keep flat bed's functionality too.

seen ex bt van bodies on trailers, though with full width rear doors
could carry pretty much anything.

a neighbour has built a largish box trailer on what presume was a
car transporter chassis.

tbh can see most of it from my house, over a fence. could ask to
have a nosey for ideas...

MATE!!!!!

That would be epic :bow :bow :bow

What a quality idea!!!!

I'm going to get looking :naughty Some pics of the neighbours rig may be helpful :thumbs

Just had a quick look and the Transit Luton Bodies are 10ft 6 by 7ft

My trailer is only 10ft x 6ft I think, I'll have to do a propper measure up tomorrow at lunch if I remember :thumb2

Could just see myself poking my head out the window of that in the morning at the camp site before a laning day :naughty :naughty

At least I'd be safe inside from Paultrols bloody nightmares!!!!!

I really like the old Gypsy style ones,some brilliant builds on the web.

Trailer porn :lol whzt happened to the caravan anyway??

Gone mate!!!! Couldn't be arsed with it, I wasn't in the right mindset for the project and had a few offers for it that made my eyebrows go so I chanced it on eBay and was pleasantly surprised.

It's now spending the rest of it's life on a beach in Romania as a changing room :lol :lol Don't ask

Best thing to do, would have never been 100% if your heart weren't in it. I'm not gonna ask, I have a good imagination, mmmmmm, Romanian bikinis :D

Been thinking on long term plans for this thing and the main deciding factor for its future will be whether I can find somewhere to store it :/

If I can, I intend on totally transforming it, I have the intentions of using it as a mobile workshop/caravan for when we're out on the lanes or general road trips.

If anyone has any better ideas I'm all ears but so far the best/most cost effective way of doing what I want to do is buying an old Luton body from an ex BT van etc then attaching it to the trailer base.

Something like this;

Minus the tail lift

Or this;

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/263382662327

Thoughts?

I’ve seen people build a custom body on trailers but mainly built on Sankeys. Caravan style side doors with the whole of the interior being bed. Then at the back a door opens up like a hatachback tailgate to reveal work or cooking areas. Often seen these roll out awnings on them too.
