Already looking, might be easier to get another one the same width as the trailer and re weld the mounting pins in a different position

What was it used for last?, it looks very similar to the ones I used to use years ago for ride on mowers.

I'd say that's a very good shout as we have a few of those here but no need to move them off site anymore, if one breaks it gets pushed into the workshop and fixed on site

Measured up the PCD of the wheels an got the size and rating of the tyres at lunch time as both wheels and tyres are shot :( (there had to be some bad points right? No project is perfect)

Also nabbed these cheap from the local car spares shop near me, just need a fog and a numberplate surround now, I'm looking for something I can bolt to the metalwork that has a quick release clamp for the plate and a light too.

Congratulations on that pass :thumb2

Now the fun really begins !!!:)

Normally trailer axles will have rating plates and a serial number on them.

iF they are, you could contact the manufacturer and they might be able to advise who they were sold to.

Well done...

I have quick release clips for the number plate on my trailer, and also on the spare wheel cover, so I can clip on and off the SE4x4R sign.

On Ebay there are 3 types, Steel, long thin number plate, plastic long thin number plate, and steel square number plate...

I find the steel ones rust, even though they are supposed to be stainless steel, but the plastic ones, while more expensive do seem to be a lot better, and I changed mine all over to them.

Well done Banshee.....great project and good to have passed the test........:thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

Yep well done for passing the test, but do not go putting a T2 on that trailer it will not take it, nice looking jobbie otherwise, Rick

excellent news Zac. Congratulations on passing the trailer test. :clap :thumbs

hey well done, did you use your truck after all as recall were concerned about
about the hitch height?

that break away cable looks hd, is it not a secondary coupling, ie designed not
to break but used to keep a car and non braked trailer together should the
coupling fail. Sure mine looks like that on my project light weight as secured it
to chassis of trailer using bolts for coupling head.

Thanks for all of the replies guys  I've told all my close friends and family, work colleagues etc and only 2 excluding my partner have remembered :(

It really was a scary test, the examiner had just got back from a HGV test, jumped straight out of a truck and into mine  He looked like a straight laced stern guy I was dripping wet with sweat :(

I did use my truck matey :D Terranobreakershropshire borrowed me a set of fantastic wheels that I put on to drop the height of the car, 235/75/15's on Maverick alloy wheels it looks awful at the moment, my 33's are going back on today. :lol

The breakaway as I was sold it as was from a trailer place in Cannock called the towing shop :thumb2 Cost me £7 and is very heavy duty, can hold onto about 4 tonne safely apparently :nenau, will be attaching through the chassis as thats what the shop told me to do :thumb2

I know Rick, I'm gutted as it would most likely be Terrano's I would be picking up :doh, but might know a guy through work that can let me use his trailer for a fee as a once in a while kind of arrangment :naughty

hahahaah wtf does that look like Zac?

Would never have guessed it was yours. Its crazy :lol

a break away doesnt want to hold anything, well maybe itself long enough
to apply the trailer handbrake as it leaves contact with the tow vehicle.

you then want to keep going and let the hitch of the trailer become a plough
into the road to reduce its speed along with its brakes firmly on by then.

what you have will keep you both together ish and leave you doing all the braking
as it pushes you around, maybe off the road too or jack knifes.

Seriously review it, check a parts supplier and make sure difference between a
break away an a secondary coupling, the latter is only for unbraked trailers
upto 750kg though many don't come with one, illegally.
