Well as suggested above project terrano/mot has started:
today we changed the starter as it was beggered, got thermostat, got cv & steering idler coming 2moro. need to get some nuts & bolts before i can do any proper mods as they don't look as if they gonna cooperate :augie :doh

pics will come l8r

Don't forget that some of those overhaul jobs are just replacing average stuff with more average stuff. I'd be changing worn out stuff for heavy duty while you're at it :D

well we been down the unit all day getting dirty, fixing & modifying with some extra surprises!!

So clearly the rust worm has been at it for a while and most would have been present at the last MOT, but clearly not as bad, so how can vehicles pass the MOT in that sort of condition?

It has been less than 12 months since it passed the MOT, and it may still be valid.

Does it all come down to " rust within a foot " of any structural point.:doh

Wish I had somewhere indoors to work, I'd be making all kinds of crazy projects.

I wasn't as bad last mot but my terrano was on Rothsay (an island) Whaen I bought it so sea/salty air, plus offroading thru rivers & hitting tree stumps, rocks ect took its toll plus most of it was under plastic skirts & brackets which the mot man isn't allowed to remove & he ain't allowed to hit with a hammer no more either so unless he can stick his thumb thru it, it should get an advisory.

still got some of the other side to do, new front shocky to fit & rear arches to patch & prob move other seat belt mount into the boot with the other one.
:thumb2

Wow, I thought mine had been getting a touch religious, but man, that is(was) holy!

Kishada did some sterling work on Saturday patching up the holes in the rear o my truck, haven't got to pulling the front apart yet - quite concerned now!

The new inner wing design looks nice and simples (sure it wasn't that easy to do!), but at what point does a strategic repair become a modification for insurance purposes?

tell me bout it.... They defo weren't as simple as we thought more like a pain in the neck..as for insurance it don't matters as i'm allowed any mods & they don't affect my insurance i just email what i've done for them to have record of it.

Love the unit, Would love something like that. I'd be there all the time in my free time.

Expensive?

Well Some Rot Was Found

well we thought we'd fix a small hole with a patch before heading to clog should've only been an hour.....then another hole appeared....then another.....then another.....then another....oh yeah & only 3/6 body mounts attached (2 had already been replaced just before mot in march) ..........erm ........ SHIT ......... erm .......... need a new body ......Shit ........ EKKK!!

So an any chance of off roading was cancelled .......... But a rebuild may be on the cards :sly

yep  I HAVE KIDS IN THAT TOO:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Some car owners never venture under their vehicle, relying on the MOT to give them a 12 month worry free period. THIS WORRIES ME.

I think I would be contacting the authorities for them to inspect what you have left.

The garage that did the MOT need investigating, did Stevie Wonder do the under body inspection?

Within the 12 month MOT period, you would have had an out of body experience, in more ways than one.

The body could have left the chassis, and you didn't even need to be involved with a collision for that to happen:doh

Criminal...
