My terrano has a problem with its alarm. don't get me wrong it works but it may just be the keys
Both key remotes seem to do nothing so I have to lock it and unlock it with the key manually.
Now the frustrating part, when I unlock it with the key the alarm goes off much to the amusement of my neighbours.
It stops when I start the vehicle.
What's the answer to stopping this guys?
Is it two new keys where the remotes work?

Appears to be working correctly without the remotes.

So the remotes don't work, first job open one up carefully and purchase new good quality batteries for the pair of keys. You don't know the history and how old they are. Then after replacing the batteries ensuring they're correct way around of course follow the download to reprogram the remotes.

Good luck

I have changed the batteries in both remotes, one thing I have noticed is that the micro switches are not clicking.
If the system is working on the car ok then I will have to get the remotes over hauled and see what happens then.

Hello, hope you can help, i have a terrano 2 02 plate 3.0 ....the keyfob was intermittent working the alarm so took it to locksmith and he put new battery in, however it does not work at all now, tried reprograming it key in ignition 6 times pressing unlock and lock etc, the hazard lights flash twice but nothing after that, i have ordered a second hand one and tried programming that and just the same, the central locking does work and the car will lock by the key, but flashes hazzards when i open car until i start the car....any ideas??! thanks guys

Post photos of your remotes and if you can an internal photo too. I'll have a look at mine and compare. I have had it on my 05 where the battery was wrong way around. Also had it on my project where the terminals were missing. Seem to remember something about speed of pressing the buttons when programming. I'm about to order a replacement for my project truck so will be able to give a better description of programming after that.

If you remove the drivers side panel of the boot, you can remove the connections from the alarm horn which would be a short term solution to the noise until you can get your keyfobs sorted.

Hi, buttons were kaput in both my keys so I took them to a guy (near Barnsley so maybe not too much use to you) and he replaced the actual buttons/clickers inside, I also got some replacement covers off eBay cos the rubber pieces for buttons were worn through, I'll see if I can put a link on for eBay cos I think it might have been same guy who I took keys to, think that's how I found out about him. My alarm never went off though but it probably doesn't work anyway, not on my bloody truck lol, Mark.

Hiya mate, item number 390314260045 on eBay, there are plenty of others and different options too, can even convert to a flip key, I just put nissan key fob in search box, hope this helps, Mark.:thumb2

Sent one of my key fobs off yesterday for repair.
Will let you all know what happens when it is returned.
I'm off on a course for the next couple of days so should hopefully be at home for when I return.
I tried disconnecting the horn behind the grille, just as a temp and quick measure but this thing must have another horn on it separate for the alarm!!!

Probably too late for you now but the alarm horn is next to the seat belt reel on the driverside 3rd row of seats. Theres a photo on my project thread. You would need to remove about two screws of the tailgate kick plate to release the main apperture seal. This will give access to pull the driverside boot trim partly away to all ow access to the horn connections.
