It started with a slight noise whilst turning sharply, then it made a grinding noise whilst turning not so sharply and whirring noise with the engine revs. Now it makes a grinding noise which I can feel through the steering wheel whilst turning normally into junctions.:eek:.... think I need a power steering pump.

Anyone got one for sale?

Many thanks

I got pumps and a box, to decide which you need you will need to remove the ball joint on the drop arm on the box, then pull the drop arm back and forth with your hands and feel for roughness, it should be smooth, if it is smooth then likely to be the pump, Rick

Belt noise

Could be the PAS belt complaining either due for replacement or tension failing. Try some belt lubricant to see if it goes away short term. Noises can include groan under load or simply creaking / whirr noises. Tends to be worse when it is cold and changes when nice and hot due to change in fluid temp.

My Jeep does it sometimes, lubricant cured it for a couple of weeks I plan to get the belt changed when it's warmer might need tensioner idle wheel on mine.

Macbethial is on fire :thumbs

Yeah check the tension and condition of the belt, when you checked the fluid did you check with the engine running too?

Probably an issue with the box if you can feel it back through the steering wheel.
Had to change the pump on mine it was just making a groaning noise when turning.

When mine felt like I was slipping cogs I found the belt was slack

I bought the truck back in July last year and noticed on the history it had to have a recon steering box at £175 for the MOT a few weeks earlier. There were no symptoms for a few months after I bought it but I have changed all the belts. There was some screeching from the belts at start up a week or so afterwards so I gave the power steering belt a few turns on the adjuster and the noise went away. A few weeks after I noticed a slight vibration through the steering on big turns and it's got worse and worse as time has gone on. :nenau

You cannot guess, you have to do what I said, pull the joint off of the drop arm, Rick
