Happy new year to you all

Has anybody syphoned the power steering fluid out and put new back in.

As it must be an easier job than the other way. I wondered if anybody thinks it's a bad idea.

best regards paly

Get the front wheels off the floor and remove the feed from the steering box and drop it into a bottle, then steer left to right until you've drained as much as you want to replace.

You have full control that way, I've known people run the engine and drop the pipe off the reservoir before but I'm not keen on that one

If it's still got the standard nissan fluid cooling pipe that runs across the front crossmember you can disconnect the hose and drain from there.
Usually after a while they are self draining when that ali pipe corrodes away :lol

Thanks Elty001
As i am a complete Novice i have trouble finding out where

If you remove the bash plate from under the engine between the first and second crossmembers, held on with 6 m8 bolts you should have two aluminium cooler pipes that run across the back of the front crossmember.
On one end is a rubber loop pipe which joins them both together and the other has two rubber pipes which go up to the power steering pump.
This is the low pressure side so the pipes are only held on with hose clamps.
Loosen one of the hose clamps and pull off the rubber hose and let the old fluid drain into a bucket.
Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap to help the fluid drain.
Re connect the rubber pipe, fill with fluid and move the steering from side to side to bleed out any air.
Check and top up if needed :thumb2

Just be aware that the bolts holding the bash plate on like to shear off for fun so giving them all a good spray with penetrating oil a few times over the days prior to removing it will hopefully stop this happening.

That's excellent elty001

You made it sound easy peasy.

After i do it, ill let you know how i got on.

A big thank's paly
