Hi everybody,

just like to ask about power loss.

Running on veg oil.
When engine is cold its ok, but in few seconds can`t rev above 1800-2000rpm.
Personally I don`t like to rev the cold engine, but I had to try it.

Recently I have changed fuel filter, cleaned banjo filter, maf sensor, still can`t go over it. Any incline is a problem.

Any ideas, please?

Martin

Maybe split, leak in fuel line? Sounds like a fuel starvation problem.
I used to have a pajero, which wouldn't start well on a hill cos a fuel leak above rear diff.
Sorted that and problem solved. Could be that?

Thanks

The car starts absolutely perfectly. Running it on veg oil even in the coldest nights we have had so far no problem.

There is no leak whatsoever, had it at work on the pit and couldn`t find anything.

I use 1 litter of petrol to 20 litres of oil, but will try to mix with a diesel.

bit late now but what pump do you have? could be Maff or even CKP about to fail, might not be on again till Tues eve, very busy Rick

turn off and restart ok

can rev again ??

id say if yes to. both cps

yep I will go with zippy ckp sensor, get back to me as I have spares, Rick

I have put some diesel in it and it's a bit better, but still not good.

It will sound silly , but what is CKP?

Thanks

CKP crank shaft position sensor, Bosch it will be on the top of the bell housing, conector block rear of inlet manifold should read around 1500 ohms resistance, check it cold and hot when motor fails, what happens is hot the coil goes open circuit and CPU goes into limp mode, if open circuit cold then motor will not start, Rick

im getting good at this !!

lol

oh yea. long 1/4 ratchet and long arm i had to stand / lay inside to reach

8mm rings a bell too

Hello again,

Just a quick update on my problem.

Earlier today I cleaned fuel filter housing, changed jubilee clips. Started ok, could not get on an idle over 1500rpm, then drove and after few hundreds of metres couldn't press throttle pedal at all. Carried on just on idle but that died. I can restart it for a half second and it dies.

Haven't changed the crankshaft sensor yet and getting frustrated.

Any more ideas please?

Martin

Maf is ok as I swapped it with another Terrano for a test.

I have also tried to take an air filter out and run it for few minutes without it.

EGR- don't really know what to do with it.

confused? what do you mean by "could no press throttle pedal at all" do you mean it would not move? or it moved as usual but made no difference, Rick

Sorry, it's a bit of language barrier because I am originally from the Czech Republic.

Can press it but with no response.

what do you mean by "cleaned the fuel filter housing" ? if filter been off have bled it properly ie pumped the button for a long time till it goes hard and stays hard, Rick

That spells CPS :doh I'm so confused everyone keep writing CKP :nenau

This is sounding like a blockage to me.

I'd check to make sure you haven't got the stupid Banjo filter in the top of your IP

Ignore the Workshop Download, taking the power steering pump off is more agro than needed, with a steady hand a few tools you can go behind it and remove the bolt with a ratchet, all the extension bars you have and the flexible knuckle :sly

Remove the bolt and then remove the filter which I found inside the bolt head, some have reported that the filter remains in situe inside the thread, in which case best removal can be achieved by getting the metal strip out of a window wiper and just knicking the end making a hook and have a fish around, don't be surprised if you don't find one, some trucks don't.

I had exactly you're symptoms on this truck I've got now and it was this filter, removed it totally and problem solved :thumb2

If it's not that you could always get inside you're fuel tank and remove all the leaves from you're swirl chamber like I had to with my Maverick which again gave the exact same fuel starvation symptoms that you are experiencing.
