Hi guys, anyone wired their own towbar in on a post 2000 t2? The wiring diagram in the downloads states upto 2000 models and I'm wondering is the rear loom the same for my 2003 t2?

any advice gratefully recieved as always!

matt

Done mine

Wired my towbar up Without any probs Nicked in to the loom. All works great. I do know that alot of new vehicle's out now you can not do this as all the wire's talk to each other Then you get faults with the ECU Lights on etc but as i say mine works just great Have my trailer on plus my caravan no prob's mine's a 2005 wired as i did my 98 model

as asaid wiring has changed in any way to knowledge in production run of r20

certainly has gone canbus or equiv.

perhaps your upto 2000 refers to end of mk2 twin headlight as a cut off
but wiring seeming remained same.

yes and its easy. Just remove the nearside panel on the inside of the boot and trace the wires to the various lights, then scotch connect off them.

i allways strip a bit of wiring, splice the new wire i then solder the joint and wrap it with decent inulating tape. Scotch locks do the same job either will do depending what you have at hand, as i am a firm beleiver in using what you've got and not buying stuff for no good reason!

you promised never to show that to anyone

cheers guys, I will do just that!

I'm thinking I'll go down the soldered joints route and if I can I'll cut and splice the cables and slot a bit of heatshrink over for a nice glued sealed finish.

That's the lighting socket sorted, might not bother with the 12v secod socket yet, but can anyone recommend a suitable split charge relay incase I do get carried away and do the second socket?

cheers

for your 12v accesoriy socket a 'smartcom' relay works realy well and is easy to fit, but! Why? I have never found one to be of any use at all! But that's only my opinion and i'm sure hardened tourers out there will disagree!
