Oooh look, I have gone blue :D

Bad news, I have just missed out on a 1 owner 2001 Terrano TDI fully loaded for £2k by 10 minutes !!!

:(

What van do you tow?

I was horrified the first time I hitched our current one up, the van is 26ft and the whole thing looks bloody massive. Soon get used to it though, goes superbly

Ive gotta 26' Coachman.... add to that 16' for the T2, and together its about 42'! :augie
Or... 12.5 meters(ish)

Bearing in mind a 'Long Vehicle' is anything 15 meters plus its a fair outfit! :naughty

..... and I still get it all up a loose gravel incline bridalway, thats only 7'10" at the narrowest point to get it out of where its stored.... albeit in Low Box, going VERY carefully!!!!!

Welcome to the asylum!

But now you are starting to see what you can really get for your money if you're patient....:thumbs

Hi Amnesia,
speaking from 1 horsey family to another, you will not go wrong with a T2 or Mav to tow your horse trailer with. I have a 97 T2 With intercooler, and tow regularly my daughters horses to showing events. My T2 just comes into its own when its towing. Can honestly say its the best thing ive ever towed with Bar none!
Incidentally what type/breed of horse you got. and what do you do( showjump, event, or just hack?
Cheers Wayne

Hi Wayne,

We have an Irish Sports (Thoroughbred / Irish Draft cross) called Finley.
He's 12 years old, and stunning (in our eyes). I am still schooling and learning, with the occasional hack, but my wife is very good with him and he's progressing very well. Up to about 3' jumps at the moment.

My wife did a small show at our stables last weekend... just a novice show, but we're hoping to jump him next year at some bigger shows.

Here's a quick pic from last Sunday.

Anyway, back on topic... I need to get something sorted soon, got some more shows coming up, and I can't take any more days off work. If this Maverick is in good nick tomorrow (the HPI check came up totally clear) then I will get it.

If I like it then I can see myself getting another one for my wife anyway, so will take my time and get a cracker then.

Cheers,
Daniel.

LWB better. My auto LWB used to tow 3- 3.5 ton round easily!
Never tried with SWB but feels like it could pull my house down.

We find on bumpy damp cl's low box with the van on the box is a god send.

I'm stunned you got away with that Mundy; the auto is rated at almost half the manual gearbox towing weight (around 1700kg versus 3000kg+ I think)...

Hi Daniel, thats a nice loooking animal you got there, just showed the pic to the wife and daughter(mad about horses) and they both agree. should do well in the showring. Daughter has a 14- 2 New Forest, called Pikachu which she has progressed to having outgrown her Shetland (Mikey). Show in Mountain and Moorland Classes, nearly always get placed, so doing something right. Will post a pic soon, but gettin late now n need to turn in.
Back to the MAV, Youve come to the right place here, good helpful bunch on here. keep us posted as to whether you buy it or not.
All the best WAYNE

Yea someone said that before, but it done it quite easily. 3 tone of sand/ballast when I done some labouring. Pulled like a dream.

Careful though - i thought the same with my 99-plater til the gearbox went at 120k miles and I had to pay £1500 for a rebuild (try finding an autobox second hand for one of these, its painful)...
