See I've already swapped my filter a few days ago and now I'm getting this!!!

Yeah I've been using WVO in great quantities, I knew something was going to give sooner or later :/

Could the fuel pump be blocked up?

I've brimmed it witn diesel and used a quarter of a tank and it's still the same

if the primer is being pulled down that suggests thats where the problem lies, the fuel is struggling to be pulled through, i'd change the filter again and keep on diesel for a bit til all the shit from the wvo is washed through, then switch to svo,

Good plan I like the sounds of that

I'm out in the car now and with the fuel cap off it seems to have helped somewhat although I'm not sure if that's a contributing factor :/ what does that breather pipe do and if it is that how do I unblock it

Also whenever I remove the filler cap I get the same sound as you get when you open a bottle of pop, shoild that happen?

Sounds like the fuel pump was causing a vacuum, the breather lets air in, could be the problem
I had that on a motor bike about 50+ years ago, it ran for a bit then stopped, open the filler to check for fuel, cap back on, it ran for a bit then stopped, old geezer at work knew the answer, some PITA had stuck a match stick in the hole

Well whether it was sheer coincidence or what you've cracked it I think

I've just took it for a run and it now runs perfectly, revs stationary to 4500rpm doesn't miss a beat, and I've just bollocked it down the motorway at 95mph in 5th gear :D

I've put the fuel cap on again now so the test will be tomorrow when I drive to work, if it goes crappy again I know that's the issue, where are the breather pipes on these anyway?

I do not have a clue but I am sure others will be here to point you in the right direction.
Glad I was able to help,

The clues were fuel starvation, the primer stuck down was the clincher, when the primer goes back up it draws in fuel, as it was down it indicated a suction to hold it down,
Over 60 years of messing with stuff and you get to learn a thing or two.
One thing is for sure, you have no holes in your fuel feed line :clap
If there is a non return valve in the return line to the tank I would start there.
How you go about that I have no idea
One thing to check, is there a vent hole in the filler cap? if there is it is blocked, that would answer the 'pop' as you took the filler cap off, pretty basic but sometimes the obvious are the answer. :doh

From what I know the breather is the filler cap:thumbs
