First of all big thankyou to Big black and Clivvy. lads an ladys my 04 swb 2.7 clutch pedal dosen't come all the way back up i have to flip it up with my foot. a friend of mine thinks its a bush worn i agree it might be that also which i think is a separate problem , sometimes in the morning the pedal is nearly all the way down i have to pump it then it goes back to normal is that the slave cylnder or somethink :nenaum thanks everyone

I get exactly the same but just live with it at the moment............probably thinking that all Terrano's do it sooner or later.
 
leafy1 does your's do both like mine ? my friend said it was worn so he turned it around but never done any good really. He said that i will have to buy the hole lot not just the bush ie all pedal assemberly or somethink but i haven't a clue
 
ah yes, that old chestnut. its the return spring on the pedal, eithers snapped, or its worn. Mines the same, soemtimes it flips back up as it should, most of the time it doesnt. I am pretty sure you can buy a new spring....

then again, if you say sometimes the pedal stays right down and you pump it...id be checking the fluid level too, look for leaks around the cylinder for a start
 
I am pretty sure I have had to pump the peddle first thing in the morning where it has felt too low but the fluid levels are fine when I check(No leaks at all) .......... I will check that spring when I get the chance.

just thought, have a search on the forum, im sure theres a pipe that goes from the clutch to the rear of the vehincle, like a breather pipe, that might be blocked...ah here it is

Clutch

Sometimes if the slave cyl washer is worn or the bore scored the fluid can bypass it but remain in the system - so no apparent leak.If you have to pump the pedal to be able to select a gear it could be hydraulic.Get someone to check movement of the clutch fork before and after you have pumped it up and that may give you a clue to the problem.If it was me I would get a willing helper to lie in the snow whilst I sat in the car.Thing is to find a willing helper.:naughty

Hi Mikejcb, I had a similar problem with my mav when i first got it in June. The clutch pedal gradually went to the floor as I was driving along until I could not get it into gear. This was the result of the fluid level having dropped below min mark. Topping up cured this, however the level does slowly drop down and needs topping up every couple of month although no apparent leaks. Sounds like a problem with the slave cylinder as described by 4wheel.

The clutch pedal would also occasionally stick and would need pulling up with my foot. On checking this the pedal appeared to be slightly bent to the right and therefore catching on the something, probably the carrier. A few tugs to the left and a liberal amount of wd40 sorted it out. Works perfect now. Hope this gives you a few ideas. Nev
 
clutch pedal bracket

Hi all just cured the same problem recently..... found that the pedal would nor return fully after found out that the problem with mine was a brokern clutch pedeal bracket, where it fixes the pedal arm to the bulk head, awkward job to see, had to lay on my back and look up at the pedal from the footwell. could see that the welds on the bracket had snapped,
1. remove the master clutch cylinder 2 bolts, and one pipe,
2. dont forget to remove the small pin and slpit pin from the top of the clutch pedal arm.
3. renove ethe top bolt from the top of the bracket and the pedal bracket and arm should come off,
not got the use of a welder so i fabricated a repair by using some metal strips, used some smallnuts and bolts to fix the bracket, making sure not to obstruct the cable entry point for the clutch.

refitted, while i had the master cylinder off i cleaned it out and then bleed it,

fixed my clutch no problem hope this helps
