I have to say that the short time I have been member of this forum I have gained invaluable advice. This tip saved me hundreds.
My 1994 2.7 Td Mistral (Terrano), was lacking loads of power when climbing or accelerating which kinda pointed to the turbo, however trawling the forums I found the thread about cleaning the pre-fuel filter (mini filter), just under the fuel pump.
Following the article in Workshop 10 in the downloads section I had the filter out, cleaned and put back together in under 45 minutes. Took it for a test drive and now there is much more power and the turbo is no longer screaming for more fuel under load.
Probably the turbo could do with a cursory inspection in a month's time or so but this could have saved me a bundle.
If you have the same problem try this tip first. My filter was caked with fat and filth and I seem to recall that the car did smell a bit chip fatish when I bought her.
Shame I forgot to put the cat litter tray under the car before starting. I now have a multi coloured drive where I used detergent to clean up afterwards.
Thanks again folks, Next job today is fitting a new window motor on the rear offside door. (Joy).
