I have to say that the short time I have been member of this forum I have gained invaluable advice. This tip saved me hundreds.

My 1994 2.7 Td Mistral (Terrano), was lacking loads of power when climbing or accelerating which kinda pointed to the turbo, however trawling the forums I found the thread about cleaning the pre-fuel filter (mini filter), just under the fuel pump.

Following the article in Workshop 10 in the downloads section I had the filter out, cleaned and put back together in under 45 minutes. Took it for a test drive and now there is much more power and the turbo is no longer screaming for more fuel under load.

Probably the turbo could do with a cursory inspection in a month's time or so but this could have saved me a bundle.

If you have the same problem try this tip first. My filter was caked with fat and filth and I seem to recall that the car did smell a bit chip fatish when I bought her.

Shame I forgot to put the cat litter tray under the car before starting. I now have a multi coloured drive where I used detergent to clean up afterwards.

Thanks again folks, Next job today is fitting a new window motor on the rear offside door. (Joy).

I wish it were so easy with the rear window motor.

I bought a used one for a Terrano off ebay and when fitted the dimensions were slightly different in length by about 1/16 inch and spent ages forcing it to fit.

Guess what? there is a plug left over suggesting there should be a relay for the window although looking in the Terrano manual the front relay controls the rear window motor as well but I cant find a plug for this socket to go into. I did try fitting the front relay into the rear motor socket but it did not move the window.

I moved onto the interior light and fixed this since it was old and the switch position detent spring was bent. Discovered that the drivers door switch was worn and tried taking it out but it was seized in so now waiting for my drill from my daughters fiancée to drill it out.

The car has not been taken care of over the years and all the minor jobs have just been left or bodged with wood screws and fag packets.

It's annoying really because these little points make all the difference.

Still I only paid £650 for it and on the whole all the major items seem OK (touch wood).

Quick update.

Feel like a complete fool now. The rear window does not have a relay. It just so happens that the connector for the door switch is the same as the front window relay and cased me to think a relay was missing. The front window relay also controls the rear window motor.
