Sorry for starting a new thread but the title of the other thread is about shocks.

Here goes:nenau

Right a while back I noticed the my trol was sitting about an 1" low on the rear offside:doh

Ok thinks its a sagging rear spring.

Get new springs from Milner (standard ride height 20% stronger i'm told)

Change springs and shocks and car is still not level:doh As suggested the rears might be different lengths:eek: so swap the rears and guess what still sitting lower on rear offside about 1/2" and 1/2" high on front near side:doh

Before anyone says this the springs are sitting correct in the seats.

So I disconnect panhard rods and shocks so car is only sitting on springs and its still the same:nenau

My thoughts now that a rubber bush on the radius arms (front axle) or the trailing arms (rear axle) is worn, but I can't see which one:doh Could it be a bent arm:nenau

Or even the chassis twisted which I seriously doubt:eek:

Any idea's as I can feel the difference when towing my van, it feels like a soft spring.

:)

Try disconnecting the anti roll bars - they more than anything else can have an affect on side to side relative heights.

Will give it ago.

Not long after I got the car nissan changed ARB link on offside rear, hope they put the right one on??? the other side is the connection for the electronic stabiliser on the ARB

:thumb2

Just disconnect one link on each bar should be enough to remove any effect.

Turned off electronic stabiliser on rear ARB, it disconnects the nearside, that made no difference.

Will do the front now :thumb2

Right here's an update on what I've done.

Disconnected front ARB (both drop links)

Disconnected rear ARB OS link and stabiliser disconnected

No change in heights:nenau

Then when ARB's out of the way, disconnected front and rear panhard rods, no change on heights:doh

So car is sitting on springs, shocks and any bushes that are holding the axles in place.

This is what I'm getting measuring from the centre of the wheel hubs to the wheel arches.

Front OS 21 3/8"
Front NS 21 3/4" difference on the front of 3/8"

Rear OS 21 1/4"
Rear NS 22 1/8" difference of 7/8":doh car is sitting higher on near side.
Doesn't take much to get it level, lift rear OS a touch and its level, push down on Front NS and it levels

So the front axle is connected by radius arms with bushing top, bottom and of axle and onto the chassis.

Rear axle has top and bottom trailing arms, all with bushing.

Any ideas before I contact Milners about the springs????

:nenau

Might sound daft (its not though) - have you checked your tyre pressures?

Also whats the current fuel load (where abouts is the tank btw)?

Tyre pressures are ok and the fuel tank is in the middle similar to the T2.

It feels like a soft spring when towing the van.

Whats bugging me is it sat like that before I changed springs and shocks, that how I changed them. My suspision is its a problem at the front thats causing it:nenau bushes on the front arms:nenau

Just passed its MOT and they didn't mention it.

I feel a visit to Nissan coming on:doh if they say its the springs I'll get it in writing off them that it will cure it and they wont be fitting them:lol

I'll keep you posted
:)

With a live axle bushes shouldn't affect ride height at all as the spring sits directly between the axle and the chassis - so really its probably the spring.

As Dadba says OME supply them slightly different lengths.

I know what you mean, but looking at the way the radius arms are connected to the front axle, 2 bushes on both sides(top&bottom of the axle) , if both are worn on one side, it would allow the axle to rise on that side and lower that corner, if you know what I mean.

I'll need to get it up on ramps and do some checking with a bar for movement in anything.

:)

Had car at nissan and they can't find a problem, what a shock:nenau other than If I hadn't changed the springs it would be the springs:augie

Just been speaking to TBR about OME springs and as Dadba says the drivers side on front and rear are slightly longer, maked A for drivers and B for passenger sides.

Asked Nissan about that and I got a dumb look and the guy admitted to never changing any and the parts dept doesn't say there is a difference:nenau

:lol

Jocky changed springs on old t2 with those 20% ones no difference still felt same towing .Should have saved my money.

Yes does make you think when some company can sell them at £40 odd a pair and OME are £70 each:nenau need to get a price for IronMan and some info.

Nissan want £150 each for the front and £170 each for the rear:eek:

So what does that say about the cheapo's:eek: suppose you only get what you pay for:nenau

Just being having a word with a Nissan parts distributer about the lengths and Milners more to follow:naughty

:)

Many people seem to sell the same springs for SWB as they do for LWB Terranos, yet a set of LWB springs will lift a SWB about 35mm - draw your own conclusions?

Got new springs today from TBR

OME springs 20mm lift front and 30mm lift rear and guess what, as already said the drivers side rear is 1" longer. So that should level it up.

Nissan and Milners were no help with the spring lengths:doh

If this sorts it I'll be getting my cash back from them.

I can't believe that people sell spring and they don't know what there doing.

Nissan were hopeless telling me they must be the same length as they come in a pair with the same part number.

The OME springs are the same part number, but marked up A & B. A is longer for the drivers side.

Will let you know how it goes when I fit them tomorrow, if it doesn't chuck it down.

:)

Hi YA Jocky
What did you have to pay for the springs for out of interest
and are they standard or heavy duty ?

davemud

Changed all 4 springs today and the ride height is within 1/4" on each corner, so thats me happy:augie

Goes to show, you only get what you pay for:nenau
