I remember as a youngster that it was said ( and probably untrue, but I still like it), that on the twisty mountain roads of Austria/Switzerland priority was always given to the larger vehicle. All was fine when you could see the oncoming vehicle and make the decision on whether to give way or not. The problem was on the bends, but easily solved, as you have demonstrated, by the larger vehicles being fitted with the loudest horn. I think that everything started to fall apart when a loud blast of a horn, loud enough to demonstrate that the other vehicle should cede, was followed by a mini pootling arouind the corner with a set up similar you yours.

Nah I did Mont Blanc and others in the 70's in an artic and that did not apply,, total nonsense I am afraid, CB was the beans then, Rick

My CB still doesn't work, so I will use the horns! :lol

Got them mounted...

Not updated this thread in a while, but that's because I've not done much... Infact, I've not done anything. (Still gotta get those damn extended fenders on!) :doh

I have however, bit the bullet and bought some towing mirrors from Oz! :naughty

As much as I have enjoyed my botched together Ford Transit Connect mirrors, they're still not quite what I was arter... And now that I'm pulling the 'Tin Tent' around it seemed like the perfect time to try Australia's answer to towing mirrors!

They will take some getting used to... The Connect mirrors are smaller than Patrol's OEM mirrors, but these things are replicas of Ford F250 mirrors so the truck is likely to look like a Spaniel! :lol

Maybe I will put another YouTube video up once they arrive! :thumbs

They're plug & play so again have opted for the electric option.

You'd think so... But actually, no.

There is a company called ClearView who ask 800 Australian dollars for a pair... With not too much effort, I found a knock off company offering the 'same' mirrors for about $300.

Yet more digging around, and I found more options. All knock offs of the ClearView mirror, but I figured, if I was prepared to go with the BettterView knock offs, then the cheaper ones again should be fine!

I found some for $215, but they had no stock, so the next best price I could find was $245.

Non of these companies would post to the UK, so I had my Cuz in Oz buy them and he's shipping them to me. (I sent him $150 to cover the postage!)

So far, including shipping I have spent around $400 (Just less than £220) ... We shall see if I get stung at customs.

Just to put that into perspective, someone is breaking a Patrol, and they're looking for £62.63 per side for some second hand battered ones, that I'd have to spend a little money on cleaning up.

So I reckon, that this might just be worth a punt! :thumbs
