Jay666D, old buddy, old pal... I'm starting to think about the electrics while I wait for the roof rack stuff to arrive. Specifically more lights and leisure battery set up. So, I know it was a while ago since you bought/fitted it, but which size universal battery tray did you fit for your Aux battery? Also which size Optima is that?

There are several trays (probably the same one as yours) on ebay..

While I'm here, this looks like a decent low(ish) cost alternative for keeping those beers cold...

Have you given any thought about interior storage yet? I'm thinking of just bunging a bit of marine ply wood in the back and using the original bolts for the rear rear (yes, 2 rears!) seats, with a vertical bit underneath in the middle, and a couple of those low green stores boxes for drawers (the big short ones - I'm too hot and this is the best discription I'm giving today!)

These ones...

Anyway I got off topic... Its too hot...

What size battery tray, and which battery please mate :)

Funny you should say that...

Only today did my mind wonder back over to storage. I'm basically thinking the same as you... Keeping it as simple as possible!

That battery tray is the exact one that I went with. (I will check the size for you)

I used an Optima Yellow Top for my Aux battery!

Again, I will check which one I bought. :thumbs

Built a life size mock up of the 5 gallon air tank that I'm going to buy...

Just want to see if I can make it fit where I want it before I commit.

My water tank turned up yesterday, I’ll post some pics of the rear storage setup on Sunday, part build only at the mo

Good evening Guys... And Girls? (Do we have girls?)

That is how its done fella :bow

Thank you very much... It's taken me an age to get this far! :lol

Whats the air for? Rick

It's primary function will be for tyre inflation. Other uses will include, but are not limited to Blowing up kids paddling pools, Blowing up Air camp beds, Air Lockers, (Way in the future) Low flow rate air tools like my stapler/nail gun... And maybe a Train Horn! :augie

Nailed it in one there Jay:thumb2

I bet it's not as snug as yours! :lol

I'm thinking the finished product will be 18mm Ply... Is that what you used?

I'm already looking forward to it! :thumbs

The train horn is the best use, I still got my one from my trucking days, fitted it on the roof of my Hillman Hunter estate years ago and powered it with propane, some times lighting it as well, terrific, Rick

Just a little point about air lockers, the standard one on the Troll is in fact vacuum operated, not air pressure, Rick

Lighting it! Amazing!
Was it a real train horn like a Leslie or a Nathan?

Roger that Rick, good to know! :thumbs

No it is a Hadley, about 2 ft long, we tried to rig up a spark igniter but could not get the correct place for the right gas/air mixture, so we just held a flame near it and pulled the wire, pretty impressive I have to say, fun days, Rick

I used 18mm Phenolic faced ply like a Buffalo Board. It's the stuff they use for the floors in horse boxes etc.
18mm ply will be just as good, but all good sheet materials are expensive at the mo. With a van liner glued-on wrap, your ply will look great!
I've just looked at my off cuts. But they're too small for what I can see in your pics. I would have brought them to Wales for you.:(

Flames!

Add it to the list :naughty :lol

Mine is going to be full size like yours... That was just a quick mock up so I could be sure the air tank would fit!

Fingers crossed I will make it to Wales... I'd love to see how yours fits!
