Patrol 3 litre Y61 noisy starting & idling

Anyone out there had the problem of erratic idling and very noisy start up when hot - otherwise runs fine and starts normal when cold.
Diagnostic checks by two different garages have proven fruitless.
Word is it could be the idling valve malfunctioning ??

Could also be an injector with a sticky needle, if it is dripping, that would explain the noisy startup when hot (loud diesel knock caused by fuel already in the combustion chamber), Rick

erratic idling & noisy start up when hot

Just thought I'd let you know what has happened - Ordered injectors - one delivered - have to wait until Xmas for the other three - I am prepared to wait because of the price difference of a saving of £150 each !!! - meanwhile back at the ranch the thrust bearing began to rumble so I dropped the gearbox out and replaced the clutch at the same time - everything else looked okay so reassembled and everything was fine for 6 days then the Dual Mass flywheel broke - Ahhhh !!! - gearbox out again ! replaced the dual mass and the main crankshaft seal - reassembled and everthing okay ! Erratic idling and noisy hot start have disappeared so can only conclude that the dual mass was on its way out causing all the inbalance in the engine.
Have just arrived back from a 2000 mile trip to Spain and back (carrying lots of extra fuel) and the truck ran like a dream.
MOT next week so fingers are crossed
