Got a problem with my 55 reg Pathfinder: the keyless entry to car works, but then the ignition switch often fails to turn without the actual emergency key being inserted (sometimes it won't even start with the key). Also, I get the ESP light come on for no reason whilst driving (which fails to respond to the switch). The car is still under warranty and been back 3 times - now the EMU and ignition switch is now being replaced but I'm beginning to loose faith in the car. I think it may be a fibre optic glitch which will keep appearing at random (and after warranty)!!.
The Nissan dealer and Nissan are really useless - as usual I'm told I'm the 'only person with this problem' - which really pee me off. Anyone have any suggestions or similar reports please. Thanks.

Hi wedgenock.
Sounds like a frustrating bummer. Sorry - I don't have same vehicle so can't help technically but have had similar experiences with other items on vehicles which were under guarantee and have found that it's vital to keep written, dated records of all that transpires so that when / if they try to wriggle out of responsibility you have proof of it occuring DURING guarantee time. Helps a lot if trading standards get involved.

I have also been told that "you're the only one this has happened to". I hate that line because it infers that I am an incompetent idiot who must have broken something. It has also turned out not to be the case too because I have found out subsequently that things have been known defects---perhaps not widely known but never-the-less, known.

In any case ---even if you are the only one--that is irrelevent. You are a customer and they have a legal obligation to ensure that they have supplied something which is "fit for purpose" ; which quite clearly it isn't.

Hope this is at least a bit supportive and that you get a good outcome.

Chaster,
Many thanks for that advice and support.
I think all these latest vehicles just have too many electrical gadgets that can go wrong.
All best.
Roy.

We have a 57 Pathfinder and the wife has already discovered that the steering wheel lock has to be disengaged before the keyless ignition will work. Key fob also can't be too close, that's another no-no. I don't know if this will help the problem you describe. The supplying Nissan dealer knew about keeping the key fob away from the keyless ignition, but we had to tell them about the steering wheel lock.
I hope this helps.
