Not going to bother replying any more. No point.

LMBO you'll learn, we like a robust discussion on here LOL don't take offence!

But seriously, there is no evidence that this happens, although I accept its perfectly feasible if some idiot decided to soak his Pipercross or K&N filter in gearbox oil instead of doing it according to the instructions.

But if my factual and empirical evidence was too much I do apologise :augie

I personally stick to OEM filters and change them more regularly than the manual states.

Dont know why the T2 dont like cheapy ones, but just in my experiance they played havoc with the general running and MAFs!
Since then (6yrs ago) I have used Nissan ones, and never had a problem since!!!
:nenau

I am tempted by the K&N.... but whilst the 'roar' might be nice to scare grannys on zebra crossings does the extra noise give you headaches on long motorway slogs???

cheap fuel filters do not always work well either, i have heard tales of poor seating (resulting in air leaks) and fibres caught in the mini filter (TD only). Our cars a obviously snobs :lol

i used to remove the baffles on my road bike , untill mr plod stopped me :doh

Had a k&n now forabout 2 years, no prob's so far, use the Mav alot on the motorway and the noise is lost on there.

Hi mate

The only time you hear that sexy roar and the K&N "sucking" is when you accelerate at mid range in the revs (in my experience anyway). When say on the motorway at 70 without changing speed you hear nothing :)
