Hi all, anyone know how to ID an old reg number FPC 307 judging from the picture I just got sometime between 1935 & 1950. not much of the car is in view just the bumper & reg, it is a family tree thing we are trying to ID the date, we know where, Surrey:bow
I can post the pic if it may help

FPC means it was reg'd in Surrey between March and December 1937, or between February and June 1958. According to http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/registrations/pc.htm
You might try phoning DVLA, unhelpful bastards at the best of times, but you never know..

hey thanks for that, never realised that regs before the year letter was added
could be identified.

found my grandad's moggy reg fwa was a 3 month period from feb 63, just got
to find the car now....

I just tried a few tricks I know to trace details of reg numbers but nothing, sorry

I know your tricks, but they only work with the current DVLA data base  not old motors no longer with log book etc.

I have ad success tracking cars I know were scrapped years ago with the reg number not currently used, for example I tried tracking a 1979 chevette that I scrapped in 1985, and could still find it's details, but sadly I think this reg is just to old!

If you are trying to date the picture from the car reg, then if the car was new at the time ok, but it could be 10 years old or more:eek:
