I know this subject has probably been brought up a number of times but I am still a little confused.

Firstly, I am having trouble understanding some of the terminology.
When talking about the engine and transmission, I see terms such as ..
Gearbox, Transfer Box, Diff front, Diff rear, Transaxle.

I understand the gearbox but is the Transfer box the lump that bolts onto the back of the gearbox ? if so, then what is the "Transaxle ?

Oils !!!!

Gearbox calls for sx75w-90 API GL4 semi synthetic
Transfer box calls for ATF Dexron 111 API GL4

But apparently an update came out which calls for ATF Dexron 111 to be used in both the gearbox and the Transfer box, is that correct ?

The rear Diff calls for LS 80w-90 API GL5
The front Diff calls for EP80W-90 API GL5 (not LS)

Is that correct ?

Is the "Transaxle" another name for the "Transfer Box" ?

Sorry if I sound a bit thick guys, just a little confused about what I should be using, have just fitted a 2nd hand box and want to make sure I get the oils correct.

Thanks in advance.

I must admit I am not up on the oils, but I am sure someone will come along and confirm the correct ones.

As far as the Transaxle goes, I though that was the "Correct" term for the whole rear axle assembly. E.g. when it is a single axle that contain the diff etc. rather than separate drive shafts. I would have thought, technically the rear diff and the Transaxle were the same thing,

if you go on the comma web site and stick your reg number in it will ell you what you need and where to get it :thumb2

no mention of transaxle in my Mav book (enRHD 897) or my Terrano books, Rick
