Whilst checking the oil today I noticed some oil residue on one corner of the intercooler. Also where the pipe that comes from the back of the inter cooler down to the turbo there seems to be some more there. The question is I suppose is this normal? Or something more serious:nenau

With any turbo, some oil will get through, so it is likely to stay in corners of the intercooler where the flow is slow.

The oil breather of the engine feeds the air intake on the low pressure side, so this breather air may contain some atomised oil, so would normally get burnt, but can be deposited in the inter cooler.

There are various threads on how to clean the inter cooler of oil.

Does your engine burn oil?
Is there blue smoke?

Probably normal, even my 18 year old TD version, non intercooler has let a bit through, over the years, and still going strong. Sometimes it manages to appear on the outside of the rubber hose that goes over the rocker box cover.
A wipe once a year, and hardly noticeable.

So I would say normal.

best regards,

Rustic

Thanks for that, no blue smoke and she don't burn any oil:)
