I've spoken at length again to the service guys at Westway Nissan, Oldham. They reckon that there has definitely been no "recall" on the oil pressure switch fix. They did, however, concede that there may be been a Service Bulletin that recommends that this OPS-Adapter (as they call it) is fitted to reduce the chance of a future oil pressure switch failure - so they should definitely have done it on the previous occasions when they changed the switch.
Anyway - the bottom line is that they have now agreed to fit a new oil pressure switch and the OPS-adapter on Weds this week, completely F.O.C. and let me have a courtesy car for the day too.
I've had a look at your Workshop 42 process PDF for changing the sensor -- and had a quick grovel in the wheel-arch of my 'Troll. I reckon that I could do the job in well under half an hour too!!
A result!! Thanks for your help with this.
