Not on any of the diagrams or even in the manual

Yeah whole lot need to pop it back apart tomorrow tho as I need to put some bearing caps in I didn’t realise that they used them as everything I looked at didn’t have them in.

Unless you've used different grease in the swivel hub bearings and your cv joint I wouldn't bother as they're only really there to stop the grease mixing if you use different types :nenau

Oh well no I used all the same I’ve changed everything in the swivel hub and loaded the joint with fresh grease too but there was some diff oil in there when I pulled the axel out as I struggled to get it back in. It was hard to lift it in as to not rub the seal.

Yeh if you were seeping oil from the swivel then there would have been oil pooled in the swivel hub as once the axle seal has gone the diff oil leaks past the seal and pools in the swivel then seeps out the scraper seals. In normal service with a working axle seal the swivel shouldn't have any oil in it.

I had to pull it back out a bit as I couldn’t get it the splines back in but got it in eventually so there ended up being a bit of diff oil pooled on the bottom bearing but it has all come out now I think and still got plenty in the diff [emoji1787]

Did you not still have the diff oil all drained from the axle at that point though?

Yeah I did bit I pulled it right out again and it schmooed everywhere when I put it in again [emoji21]but I haven’t driven it so it looks like it’s just come out the bottom bearing

But if the oil was drained out of the axle so you could replace the bearings and axle seal then there shouldn't have been any oil to come past the seal when you were relocating the drive shaft? :nenau

Oh I see what your saying I only replaced this first seal

So there was oil behind that from when I pulled the shaft out so are you saying that there is a seal further in I just left the diff oil in there that dribbled off the shaft as I had it jacked up to one side so most of it stayed behind [emoji848]
I’m all new to this sorry guys.

And yes I did clean it all out as per the picture above but when I was re assembling I pulled the shaft out all the way and a little oil cane out from the shaft again as there was still oil in that bit. So I should of cleaned all of that out [emoji3525]
Well on a side not I can disassemble a swivel hub in about 10 min now as I’ve done it that many times now I’ve just took it all back apart again there is no more diff oil in there and I have done the 2 bearing caps too re greased I case it was contaminated with oil in 2h [emoji106]

Ah got you now dude :thumb2

Nah just the one seal, no issue with a little bit of oil left sitting behind that after you've dropped the diff drain plug. It sounded to me like the axle had still been partially full of oil when you were doing it which was why i was confused!

Yeh good idea to regrease the bottom bearing just in case the little bit of oil had contaminated it. Good job dude :D
